PEOPLE'S PLATELIST - Who Would YOU Nominate??

by NDDuncan » Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:48 pm

I saw this on ABC Nightline last night - the Nightline People's Platelist Contest. Naturally, I thought of several great chefs/restaurants right here in Kentuckiana. Who do you guys think should be nominated??

I thought if I changed the title some opinions might pop up on here. If not, I must be on the Hotbytes in our alter-universe!

...you're right - there are a lot of great chefs here worthy of the platelist! (me answering myself)

I would start with Anthony Lamas - I could eat at Seviche 7 days every week - love his flair, and reminds me of my time in Peru, S.A. with my family...

I'm right there with that, although the city is really blessed with excellent, creative chefs. Peng Looi and Dean Corbett come to my mind really fast, too, and Edward Lee. Moore and Howerton and Hargrove and Ming and Lewellyn and McGarity ... I almost hate to start lists like this because after I post them I remember a dozen more really important names that I neglected. :(

I concur!! I think someone near and dear to all these chefs should nominate them and see if any of them make the list. I truly believe we have several worthy of being featured on ABC Nightline!

No problem, Fred! Better to mention Josh twice than not at all!

All of those posted are outstanding nominations.

Two I would nominate are: Marsha Lynch for pastry and Michele Brinke for the use of local products in creative dishes.

But here in Louisville we are blessed with so many great chefs all doing wonderful food things. Chicago eat your heart out!

Here's a couple/few fun ones:

Michael Ton and Mr low-key, Schuster (211.) Have we mentioned Paley? I saw him on the Morning Show the other day...

I didn't mention Ethan because he'll most likely be in Atlanta with Lush Life by the time they would do the piece.

I know I'm slanted, but John Varanese too. Awesome chef, although I think he outshines himself as a proprieter. 9.9 vs a perfect 10, if you get my point...
