BD's Mongolian Barbeque

by Bedford Crenshaw » Mon Jul 09, 2007 11:46 pm

Has there been talk of a BD's Mongolian Barbeque com ing to Louisville. WHile at Origins this past weekend I went to their Columbus site and loved it. More options than 2 Hahn's (or whatever its called now), it has lamb, sausage, meatballs, and all sorts of different seafood for meats. My only complaint is that they have you put your sauces and spices in a separate cup, and with the sauces/spices thrown in just before the food is done cooking, I noticed a lot of spice clumps. ALso, they INSISTED one stayed by the grill while cooking, and that grill ran much hotter than other Mongolians I've been too.

I believe there are restaurants in Lexington and Northern Indianapolis.

I used to stop at a BD's in Naperville, IL outside of Chicago when I used to have business trips up there. A very neat concept that they execute well. I would love to see something like that here.

In my last 2 years in Phoenix, they opened a Jillian's that had a similiar concept that they called Fire and Ice. They relied entirely on sauces for flavor than the spices that BD's used. That being said, I have not seen that in any other Jillians around the country either.

BD's vs Flat Top

by Andrew Mellman » Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:03 pm

In Chicago, try Flat Top instead of BD's. BD's does allow mingling of meats/fish which Flat Top doesn't, but we've found Flat Top to be CLEANER (caps mean really a lot cleaner) with more options, and you don't have to wait - they bring the stuff to you.
