As some of you may have heard we (Napa River Grill) lost our Sous Chef Kenny Black in a tragic motorcycle accident on April 23rd of this year, just 5 days short of his 25th birthday. He was one of the most genuine, honest and loving people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. This has been an immeasurable loss for us.
In 2003 we established the Napa River Grill Culinary Scholarship Fund. This is a needs based scholarship designed to give opportunities to young men and women to earn a degree in the culinary arts. Kenny Black was one of the many proud graduates of Sullivan University and in his honor we have renamed this scholarship to create a legacy in his name.
We will be holding a golf scramble at the Cardinal Club this year on August 2nd to raise money for this fund. We are asking for help in the form of donations, sponsorships, or teams to play in the tournament. All proceeds go into the scholarship fund, and we are hoping to make this event a lot of fun as well. We would love to see support from the local restaurant community, and the local business community. Help on any level will be greatly appreciated.
I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to read this post. For further details on this event please call us at 423-5822, or you can email myself (listed below) or Emily Walz (emily@napariverlouisville.com).
