Shady Lane - Again

by Steve P » Fri Jun 04, 2010 5:32 pm

Enjoyed another nice lunch at Shady Lane on Wednesday...MAN do Bill and Susanne know how to cook ! I've enjoyed lunch there on several occasions (Burgers, etc) but this time around went for the grilled pimento cheese and bacon sandwich. AWESOME sammy...just awesome. Bill and Susanne were enjoying an alfresco lunch and we got to chat with them for a few minutes on the way out, first time I'd had an opportunity to meet them. Great folks. Great restaurant.

Thanks to all for the kind words. We celebrate five years this month...wow! We are thinking/planning a possible second place... I know I've said that before, but maybe for real this time. Don't ever worry about the occasional visit.. we are glad to have you any old time. The amazing thing are people we actually know as "friends" who have NEVER BEEN IN! That pisses me off. When I was a vegetarian chef years ago, people used to say.. oh you just have to open a veggie place, and I would reply, if you are going to come in every day, then yes. I think it all goes back to the population base touched on in the Farmer/Vendor Market discussion. We need fresh bodies all the time to come and sit a spell. Thanks again. Hope to have a big celebration later this month. Peace. Bill and Susi

Shady Lane has turned into a Saturday haunt (usually breakfast, sometimes lunch if morning errands run long) for me and Alan. You can't beat Bill's Pecan Pancakes and their wonderful coffee to break up the riggors of Saturday chores. Also, the smile and handshake from Bill, and of course the hug from Susi can't be beat, either
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

My friends and I use Shady Lane as a place to gather and have lunch every once and awhile (I wish it was more often both meeting with them for lunch and eating lunch at Shady Lane)... last Friday we went, and they converted a Muffuleta (sp?) into a Cubano for me... man was it ever good. Add on the Sweet Potato fries and it makes me sad I have a job and can't go there for lunch as much anymore.

I don't think the Cubano is on the menu yet, but I'm sure if you ask nicely, Bill will make one for you.

Thanks again guys!
