New Venture from the Nach Bar Owners-Eiderdown

by Jesse Hendrix-Inman » Tue Jun 01, 2010 5:10 pm

I'm super excited to hear about this new eatery coming into my neighborhood, so I thought I would share. The information is from a post by the Nach Bar on the Germantown-Schnitzelburg Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Louisv ... 1887923541

From their post:

"To clarify, we closed yesterday on 983 Goss Avenue, formerly Jockamo's. We plan to open a restaurant, Eiderdown, by the middle of July.

The food will be German/European/Southern influenced comfort food. Reasonably priced with most everything made under our roof. Beer will be a focus in the dining room and in the kitchen. None of the 21 taps will be beers we sell at the Nachbar. Our chef has requested that we not have a microwave, so we will not have a microwave."

I got a sneak peek at the menu, and it's a marvelous thing. Jay-sus, people, I'll have to start biking 50 km a day just to be able to eat and drink at all the worthwhile beer-paired establishments. There won't be time to even work.

Wait ... that's not a bad thing, is it? :D

I'm very excited about this new restaurant! What great news for our neighborhood! The owners are a super nice young couple and I wish them all the best. Germany within walking distance!

The wife and I got a preview of the Eiderdown menu tonight at the Brew at the Zoo. The two dishes they had were both delicious. Can't wait for this one to open.

THAT's what it was. I also had the Eiderdown food at B at the Z, and it was outstanding. It was the first food item I had, and I raved all day about the goodness of their food (pulled pork and a sort of Asian-style ravioli). I had no idea it was from this new place.
