I'm looking for some nice patio dining options in Louisville. Any recommendations?

Avalon, Seviche, Havana Rumba, and Mojito are on the top of my list.

Captain's Quarters may be the mother lode with its extensive deck system and very decent fare, and the spots across the river from downtown - Rocky's, Buckhead, etc., have great views although they're not really great foodie destinations.

Porcini is nice for Frankfort Avenue people watching, and ditto Seviche or Avalon for Bardstown Road.
Baxter Station's is nice, too. And for a touch of quiet class, 610 Magnolia or 211 Clover.

One fact to keep in mind: Since the passage of Louisville's no-smoking law for restaurants and bars, the patios have become the de facto smoking section. If this doesn't bother you, great, but to be blunt, it makes most patio's no-go zones for me. Bank Street Brewhouse in New Albany is one happy exception to this: The front patio along the sidewalk, which merges into the dining room when the big doors are up, is no-smoking.

Does anyone know of any other non-smoking patios around town?

The new Sapporo on 4th Street put in a nice patio. I would also include the Grape Leaf and Varanese on Frankfort Avenue.

All of the pubs on Baxter have nice patios (O'Shea's, Molly Malone's, and Flanagan's).

Cumberland Brews and Fluer de Lis Cafe are nice for sidewalk dining in the Bonnycastle area of the Highlands.

Oh, and though it's an enclosed patio, the patio at White Oak at Artemesia is nice.

I would like to throw our patio in the mix. This is our third season having it available. I don't know if it's because we built in after having been open for four years, but people still seem surprised to learn we offer one. Anyway, hope to see you there soon.

We have a great patio at Brownings-- and we sit off Main street a bit so the exhaust is minimal. On thursday nights we will have live music on the patio starting at 6:30.

I also love el mundo's outdoor area.

While this might be true, I don't find it to be a problem at many places - Brownings, BBC on 4th, Grape Leaf, El Mundo, and Baxter Station come to mind as being free of smoke issues. It's more of a problem at Cumberland, Za's, and the Irish Pubs on Baxter. I really like patio dining, and, for the most part, rarely run into problems with smoke.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.
