Robin Garr wrote:Captain's Quarters may be the mother lode with its extensive deck system and very decent fare, and the spots across the river from downtown - Rocky's, Buckhead, etc., have great views although they're not really great foodie destinations.
Porcini is nice for Frankfort Avenue people watching, and ditto Seviche or Avalon for Bardstown Road.
Baxter Station's is nice, too. And for a touch of quiet class, 610 Magnolia or 211 Clover.
One fact to keep in mind: Since the passage of Louisville's no-smoking law for restaurants and bars, the patios have become the de facto smoking section. If this doesn't bother you, great, but to be blunt, it makes most patio's no-go zones for me. Bank Street Brewhouse in New Albany is one happy exception to this: The front patio along the sidewalk, which merges into the dining room when the big doors are up, is no-smoking.
Does anyone know of any other non-smoking patios around town?
