Furlong's on Shelbyville Rd. has a big patio/outdoor dining area if you're in the mood for some cajun food.

While this might be true, I don't find it to be a problem at many places - Brownings, BBC on 4th, Grape Leaf, El Mundo, and Baxter Station come to mind as being free of smoke issues. It's more of a problem at Cumberland, Za's, and the Irish Pubs on Baxter. I really like patio dining, and, for the most part, rarely run into problems with smoke.

Diff'rent strokes, I guess. While I'm not insane anough a Smoking Fascist to demand that all patios be declared non-smoking, for me personally, a single smoker in the patio area diminshes the pleasure of dining for me. I guess I'm particularly sensitive to the smell, but I'll go out of my way to avoid it. And as I said, that generally means no patio, rather than just avoid the patios where heavy smoking is the norm.

Really neat venue at Heather's, pleasant drive on Rose Island Rd to get there ( 15 minutes by boat from Harrods Creek ). Not as far as some think, right off Brownsboro Rd. Live music on weekends, pretty good menu.

A frequent hangout for managers of other local river restaurants

If I'm outside on the patio while having dinner alone , then I'll smoke. However, if there are other patrons on the patio besides myself, I refrain until after the meal.

Problem solved.

Very standard American fare.....ex; pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, fried seafood platters most everything is served in a basket outside.
Small bar with about 15 tables inside if the heat is to much.
View of the rolling hills of Southern Indiana is awesome :D

Isn't it Sieg's On The River?! New ownership. I think it was most recently before that called Cutter's Wharf, right?

I rode my bicycle there once, and while it was a very beautiful ride, Rose Island Rd was scary!

Yep, it has changed hands recently about every two years. Inside used to be open year round, before that it was tried as a private club but for the past several years it has been seasonal.

Locals and the boating community call it Heather's because of the original name and the floating 24 hour gas pumps are still called "Heather's on the River", the restaurant and tiki bar on a lease.

August Moon has a great patio dining area. Sitting amongst the trees and next to the creek.

With warm weather upon us, can we revive and update this list with any new (as in, since 2010) al fresco options?
