732 Social is so good.....

by Dan Thomas » Fri May 21, 2010 7:39 am

I finally got around to trying 732 Social for the first time last weekend and all I can say is "Wow!"
Chef Jayson and crew have much to be proud of. I've been putting off going because every time I've driven by there it's always packed, even though they have been open for almost a year now.....

Now I now why.

The artisan cocktails, the service and the well executed food were something that you would only normally find in NYC or Chicago. As a matter of fact, the place reminds me a lot of AVEC. I certainly didn't feel like I was in Louisville while dining there.

I could have eaten two bowls of the Pork & Cabbage and the duck (which is something I normally wouldn't order out) that is currently on the menu will make a duck fan out of anyone.

When Chef Jayson came by to say hi and asked how everything was I had to tell him "It was so good I want to smack you because I'll be having food dreams about that duck for the next week!"

If you've been holding off going because of the crowd of hipsters and pretty people as I had; forget about it and go anyway. It's definitely worth the wait.

I second that emotion :D

I have been having two consistent food cravings in 2010 -
1 -The Ham & Swiss from Joe Davola's (pear instead of tomato)
2 - everything I have had from the menu at 732

Seriously, everything from the candied nuts on the cheese plate to the big ass rib eye has been out of this world.
Additionally, the drinks are so good that I have never had a beer at 732 either (and they have a good selection, mind you).

It really is something. We love the mussels, frisee salad, and short-rib. Can't wait to try some big-ass ribeye.

I looked to see if this was mentioned in another thread but didn't see anything. But, are the Ton brothers still involved with 732 Social?

No

To chime in on the other note, 732 Social is definitely one of the best in the city. Jayson and his team continue to change things up to continue to make it interesting for foodies. I love this place!

I went there for my birthday last Monday with the 'rents and my chef. We ordered a lot of food and enjoyed everything. I had the steak frites and really hated sharing any of it with the table.

We even had a little room left for the ridiculous slice of cake they call dessert: five layers of alternating cake, red velvet and carrot, with cream cheese icing. As if that wasn't enough, it was rolled in peanut butter cup crumbles. Whoever thought of putting all of that together is a genius in my book as it was really, really good.

Side note: I'm fairly certain their desserts change on a regular basis. I think they always have a cake like that, but the "insanity" (my word, not theirs) level varies.

I second Dan's assessment... it is truly worth your time (and money) to go. You will not regret it.

I can't decide if I wanna go to 732 or Seviche for my birthday next month. On the one hand I've never been to 732 and it sounds like an amazing time, but on the other hand I've had some of the best meals I've ever had at Seviche...

Anyways, 732 is at the top of my must try list. It looks awesome.

Both are awesome, but try the new place.

As many have already posted, the food, experience, staff and Chef Jayson’s commitment to the details at 732 Social are incredible. On Friday, we had a wedding party in for their family rehearsal dinner and I heard more than once, “this was the best meal of my life!”

If you haven’t been in, please come by.

And to set the record straight….

I don’t mean to sound harsh and follow the forum more than I post, but having personally stood front row and center during the entire project, trust me when I say that neither Steven or Michael Ton can honestly claim any responsibility for the success of 732 Social.

Oh, and don’t forget the mac & cheese with rock shrimp……to die for!
