Arbor Ridge charity wine dinner for Oldham Arts Assn.

Arbor Ridge Vine & Grill in Crestwood is hosting a charity wine dinner benefiting the Arts Association of Oldham County on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. The evening has been dubbed “Cookin’ Up the Arts”. The total cost per person is $85 which includes a $25 tax deductable donation to the Arts Association of Oldham County. The festivities begin at 6:30pm and reservations are required as seating is limited. Arbor Ridge will be closed for regular business this evening.

The wines will be from Fetzer Vineyards, 9 time winner of the “Winery of the Year” award from Wine and Spirits Magazine. Fetzer Vineyard’s focus is on quality, affordable wines. The evening’s wines include 3 “Best Buy” selections and a “Cellar” selection from Wine Enthusiast magazine. Fetzer Vineyards is also known as a leader in being environmental responsible and has won 11 awards in recent years in this area. A special guest speaker representing Fetzer Vineyards will be on hand to discuss the wines, the wine making process and their environmental responsible initiatives.

The evening’s menu will be:

Artichoke and Goat Cheese Ravioli with Truffle Sauce

Fetzer Sauvignon Blanc
Poached Salmon with Smoked Gouda Sauce on Johnny Cakes

Fetzer Gewurztraminer
Braised Pork Chop Finished with Harry Jones Honey and Grapes with Meadowview Farm Salad

Fetzer Merlot
Kentucky Bison Short Ribs on Herbed Meadowview Farm Pawnee Beans and Vegetables

Fetzer Syrah
Chocolate Pots de Crème

Fetzer Coro Mendocino

A 5 course meal featuring Oldham County grown and raised products paired with quality wines priced under $50 (plus tax and service and a tax deductable donation). If there is a better way to support the arts, we are not aware of it.

Thank you for putting this up for all to see. This is a wonderful bargin along with a contribution (tax deductible) to the Arts Association of Oldham County, sponsors of LaGrange's "Arts on the Green".

We are happy to announce that Leigh Erickson, the Kentucky On-premise Manager for Brown-Forman will be our wine speaker for this event. Leigh not only has extensive training and knowledge of all Brown Forman products but also is a frequent visitor to the Fetzer Vineyards and is very knowledgeable with all aspects of their "Green" viticultural techniques.

In addition, Lori Belling from Meadowview Farms in Crestwood will be here to discuss her farming techniques and the types of produce and items that she selects for growing – many of which are very rare and unusual. Lori will have information on all her plantings for this season, including the Blue Potatoes that I requested.

The Arts Association of Oldham County will be here displaying works of varying nature for your enjoyment along with information on their coming events.
