Derby Menu is good for other events this time of year

by Ellen P » Sun May 02, 2010 12:08 pm

Reading the Florida message board in the area I like to go to - SoWal - someone posted their derby menu. Very similar to this one - without the Brown-Forman products. With the oil slick heading their way, they've had other things to think about it. Anyway, here is the Oak's Day menu from our company's cafe. If you didn't have a chance to enjoy this meal, maybe Mother's Day. There's something about the Derby Menu that rates right up there with Thanksgiving. Maybe better since you can use it other times of the year. I borrow from it for Xmas brunch maybe adding an egg casserole and substituting these sweets with our Xmas cookies:

Mixed Spring Berries with Chambord and Fresh Mint
Marinated Green Bean Salad on a bed of mixed greens with roasted red and yellow peppers and Jack Daniel’s Sweet Pecans
Kentucky Country Ham on Yeast Rolls with Smoked Gouda and Old Forester Henry Bains Sauce
Eggs Woodford – Poached Egg on Fried Green Tomato with Canadian Bacon and Woodford Reserve Sauce
Smoked Kentucky Beef Tenderloin with Fetzer Valley Oak’s Cabernet Reduction
Grilled Asparagus with Roasted Garlic and Cherry Tomatoes
Bourbon Street Café Garlic Cheese Grits Souffle
SoCo Muffins, Savory Herby Scones and Angel Biscuits, Miniature Woodford Reserve Race Day Pie, Chocolate Chipped Strawberries, Early Times Mint Julep Brownies
