Anybody know of a Kentuckiana grocery or ethnic food store that sells the Goya Fried Ripe Plantains?...It is a frozen food item that is also microwaveable...

Muchas Gracias!

Try Whole Foods - I have seen them here in Dallas.

My Search Continues

Thanks for your suggestion Cori, but the Louisville Whole Foods did not have the frozen ripe plantains...However, I didn't want to leave Whole Foods totally empty-handed...so I decided to treat myself to some Maryland Crab Soup and some Kentucky cornbread...Now that's a rather tasty combination...

Fernando, is that what you serve with your guacamole at Mojito? We came in last night with another couple and ordered the guac (actually, we ordered two servings after we scarfed down the first). I thought that if there was ever a reason to invest in a mandoline it would be to make the fried plantains to serve w/ guacamole.

We enjoyed all the dishes: hummus, calamari, garlic shrimp, meatballs (great sauce), crab cake, ahi tuna. Our server, Ivan, was very helpful and especially patient with us four newbies to Mojito as we studied the menu. He told us you're going to do brunch now, too.

Also, you must have taken the earlier comment about plate removal to heart - everything was cleared promptly making room for new dishes. Thanks.

Thanks, Fernando...I tried the Lyndon Valu-Market first because it is closest to me, but that Valu-Market does not stock the frozen ripe plantains...So I took a drive out to the "International" Valu-Market in Iroquois Manor and BINGO!...

Sorry for the late answer Jay, thank you for coming to Mojito and yes our servers are doing so much better now, so is our kitchen. What we serve w/ the guacamole are fresh green plantains that we slice really thin on a deli slicer but you can also use a mandolin. What Ray is talking about are frozen ripe plantains.
I'm glad I could help Ray any time man. Fernando
