Restaurant in Cincinnati

by Melissa S » Tue Apr 27, 2010 8:28 pm

We are headed to Ikea near Cincinnati this weekend and in need of restaurant suggestions.
Can anyone recommend an authentic Italian restaurant in the area...someplace that is family friendly and casual. If not Italian then perhaps another ethnic place.
Thanks!

We just returned from a long weekend there so I can tell you a few great places. Nada, a hip upscale authentic mexican spot right downtown was awesome. Great scene, beautiful decor with some amazing artwork upstairs. I tried all the tacos and having lived in Mexico, they more than passed my test. Queso with chorizo in a cast iron bowl was awesome too.
Palomino.... another great spot overlooking fountain square with something to satisfy everyone. Great bar area, comfortable seating and impeccable service. All the food and drinks were reasonable and they seemed to have endless happy hour with half price apps that were all delicious. Little pizzas, wonderful cheeses drizzled in honey served with flat bread, etc etc.
Let me know, I dont think you'll be dissapointed.

Pompilio's
600 Washington Ave, Newport, KY 41071
A very authentic family run Italian place.
Love it.
Its just across the bridge from Cincy.

Hey, we just got back from spending the day there! Unfortunately, I don't have a restaurant recommendation as I can't resist the Ikea meatballs. Seriously, I know they're processed to within an inch of their life, but combined with Ikea gravy, Ikea lumpy real potatoes and a dollop of Ikea lingonberry sauce they can't be beat.

Oh, and we also visited Jungle Jim's for the first time. What a trip! If you haven't been, make a side trip there but take a cooler, because they have some really interesting foods, wine and beers.

We are actually going to Ikea also. Though we'd have lunch there and dinner elsewhere. My husband loves Ikea's swedish meatballs. Is Jungle Jim's close by? Someone just told me about a super cool toy store in Newport. Going to try to get it all in. I wanted to hit Trader Joe's also....
