The Bell House in Shelbyville

by Robin Garr » Sat Apr 24, 2010 2:45 pm

Just got this from a reader. Anyone else been to the Bell House? Sounds like it's worth the short trip east on I-64.

The Bell House is a great restaurant that's open for dinner on the weekend in Shelbyville. They have a different lunch menu through the week, and that's when I go most of the time. I went to dinner there for the first time last night, and it was just fantastic. I got the herb crusted french cut chicken breast, and it was awesome. I'd love for more people to know about it. Check them out if you get the chance.

I'm the one who emailed =)

The Cobb Salad is my favorite thing that I get at lunch. It's the best Cobb that I've had anywhere, and the homemade Ranch tastes better than anything out of a bottle. The burger, hot brown, grilled chicken wrap and tuna melt are always tasty. They just came out with a new menu for lunch, and they added several new sandwiches.

They've got a completely different menu for dinner, and I just tried that for the first time last night. The french cut chicken that I emailed Robin about was as good as anything I've ever ate in Louisville. The sauce and mushrooms were just delicious. Other people that went with me had the chicken parmesan, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, sea bass, and eggplant parmesan.

Definitely check out the Bell House when you get the chance. bellhouserestaurant.com

No problem getting in for lunch, but you'd want to have reservations for dinner. It was packed Friday.

Bringing up an old thread here....has anybody been by this place recently? I was asked for a recommendation in Shelbyville (other than Old stone Inn)for dinner tonight. I read some mixed reviews online and wasnt sure what to make of this place. I suppose I should of already tried it out, as there not much else out in here in the sticks, but have never made it.
I think this link works

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

My daughter and I went there for lunch today. She had the roast beef sandwich and liked it very much. I had the pork tenderloin wrap, and while it was all right, I would choose something different next time we go. We had praline cheesecake and creme brûlée for dessert, and both were wonderful. The server was very friendly and checked on us frequently. I would definitely go back.
