Inexpensive sushi lunch?

by Adam Smith » Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:22 am

I was thinking maybe Dragon King's Daughter but I've never been for lunch so I'm not sure on prices or if they even serve lunch. Haven't been to Oiishi yet but I heard they're very affordable, anyone know if they serve lunch?

Any suggestions are appreciated, I've been wanting sushi all week for some reason...

Thanks, AM! DKD actually opens at noon Thu-Sat, according to their site, but happy hour prices start at 3. Sounds like I found my destination. :D

Adam,

They don't have a website but Bendoya Sushi on Fifth Street in downtown runs a very inexpensive special on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All rolls on the regular menu are half price as long as you order two or more rolls. A group of us here at work go every week. An average bill is typically $10-$12 for two or three rolls. My only advice is to go early (they open at 11) or go late (they close at 2) because there is usually a line out the door. They also extend the same offer to carry out orders. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but at that price I'm not complaining.

I would strongly recommend Umai Zushi Buffet . . . far East end, but lunch is ridiculously cheap (around $7?) and has decent (not wonderful but acceptable) sushi with around 25-30 different options, plus better Chinese food than any of the other buffets in town.

Even tho it may be a drive for you, with a buffet you can get in & out very fast, and the location (just off the Snyder off of Westport Rd) is easily accessible between 71 and 64.

Again, it is not the top rated sushi in town, but it is pretty fresh, has a wide selection of both individual and rolls, has salads (spicy raw octopus, fake crab, etc.), plus hot dishes and dessert. We now go there for quick lunches, and pick better sushi places for relaxed dinners!

Well, I didn't get sushi as planned. I did however go fishing and then got a fish sandwich from Moby Dick... so I guess I stuck with the fish theme for the day. 8)

Asian Moon also has a 2 roll lunch special. I can't remember exactly how much it is but I think it is around $8.
