Real Men Neuter Their Best Friends
“Hooters for Neuters” Promotion Takes Place Friday, April 23
On Friday, April 23, the Kentucky Humane Society’s S.N.I.P. Clinic and a local Hooters restaurant will host the area’s third “Hooters for Neuters.” First launched by No More Homeless Pets in Utah, the campaign uses the slogan, “Real men neuter their best friends,” and targets men who otherwise may not consider having their male dogs altered. Through this promotion, neuter surgeries for the first 60 male canines with scheduled appointments are only $20.
Some men associate neutering with taking away their dog’s masculinity, but an altered pet actually leads a longer, healthier life, with reduced risks of contracting certain diseases and developing cancer. In fact, a neutered dog can live up to three years longer and is less likely to mark territory, vent sexual frustration and show signs of aggression.
Pet owners are asked to drop off their dogs at Hooters at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 23. Their canine will then be transported to the S.N.I.P. Clinic for surgery that day. While at Hooters, participants will receive free coupons, a "Hooters for Neuters" T-shirt and have the opportunity to win pet-related items and mingle with Hooters girls. Other pet lovers can participate at the event and receive a $5 coupon for a spay/neuter surgery at the S.N.I.P. Clinic, as well as have the chance to win prizes such as T-shirts and posters.
The S.N.I.P. Clinic is the area’s only full-time, public spay/neuter clinic, with surgery prices ranging from $35 to $65. Since opening in 2007, the clinic has altered more than 20,000 felines and canines. For more information on the S.N.I.P. Clinic, call (502) 636-FIX1 [3491].
