I've had many a lunch at the Delta. It was a staple when I worked for First National Bank all those years ago (mid 1980s). I'm sure a rest is well deserved.

Other lunch places of that era:
AP Sandwich Shop
Charlies
Kupie Lounge
Kunz
Old House
Collinade (basement Starks)
Blue Boar (basement FN Tower)
There was a lunch counter in the Starks lobby - the name escapes me
Southside for Friday fish (road trip to New Albany)
many others...

Yes, sort of. It was an odd menu - typical lunch sandwiches and entrees, with a smattering of mexican food. I did enjoy their taco salad.

It's a cool space - hopefully something else goes in there.

Tis true, though that may have become a problem for them. We younger generation of lawyers were generally not regular patrons there, though they always seemed busy on my occasional visits.

My grandmother took me to Blue Boar once a week when I was a kid. I still have nightmares of overcooked vegetables and that nursing home smell.

That's a shame. I went there once back in 2000. Yea, I know...but remember it was pretty decent. And, full of lawyers.

Good chicken fingers - I used to go there in the 90's when I was a paralegal.

lest we forger Hassenhours? (OK, I know the spelling is wrong, but those of us who knew it will know what I'm talking about)
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Yeah, that was a fave of my dad's when he worked in the "2001" black monolith downtown that keeps changing names over the years. I think they dated from 1952? I enjoyed it but never made it during the later years when they had The Atrium at Hasenour's, even though a buddy of mine was a waiter. I can't recall when it closed, though. Anybody remember?

The family-owned Hasenour's closed in 1996 and filed bankruptcy. The building and surrounding land were not a part of a liquidation sale because they were owned by Lee Hasenour

The above is from Business First.

Mike and I passed the Delta recently - probably Friday night trolley hop. We had never eaten there and thought we should. Guess we missed it.

Makes we want to make sure to eat a special steak at Del Friscos. I know once a year isn't enough but it's better than never.

My restaurant I miss the most is the Old House. I loved that place. The house dressing. The downstairs bar area instead of the upstairs dining area. Even as a teenager, I would eat Sat. lunches in the bar area. Probably shouldn't have.

Years ago I worked (briefly) at The Delta. The owner had a son who had been in a very bad accident and was a quadriplegic with many complications. While the owner (buddy) was certainly not my favorite person in the world, I truly hope that his son is O.K. and the reason for the closing is not because of a crisis.
