2nd Annual Great Flanagan's Beer Festival

by Ashley Isaacs » Tue Apr 13, 2010 6:36 pm

The 2nd Annual Great Flanagan's Beer Festival will be held on Sunday, May 16th from 3:00 - 6:00. Approximately 50 different breweries will be participating this year, with around 100 different beers being poured! We changed it up quite a bit from last year, with countries like Germany, England, and Belgium, as well as craft brewers across the US, being represented! Here are a few of the breweries: Avery Brewing Company, Boulder Beer, New Holland Brewing Company, Rogue, Schlafly, Wittekerke, Unibroue, Ommegang, Arcadia, Atwater, Bitburger, Kostritzer, Wells, Samuel Smith, Ayinger, Dogfish Head, Three Floyds, Stone, Founders, Great Lakes, Left Hand, Clipper City, Great Divide, Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada, Upland, Bluegrass Brewing Company, New Albanian Brewing Company, Brownings, Kentucky Ale, Samuel Adams, Shiner, Warsteiner, Magic Hat, Pyramid, Leinenkugel, Goose Island, Red Hook, Widmer, Leffe, Czechvar, Brooklyn, Christian Moerlein, Abita, Bells, Chimay, Franziskaner, Spaten, and Breckenridge. Most breweries will be providing two styles for you to try, and this IS an unlimited format, so you can try as many as you like! We aren't giving out tickets so that you can only try ten or fifteen, we want you to taste all 100 brews!

The Great Flanagan's Beer Fest will be held out side of Flanagan's on Morton Ave, and the street will be closed off for this historic event! As if good beer and sunshine couldn't get any better, we will have live music for your listening pleasure! Alana Fugate and Justin Lewis will be playing on a stage at one end of the blocked off area.

This year, your money will be working overtime! We have chosen to donate a large portion of the proceeds from this event to the Kentucky Humane Society. The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) advocates the humane treatment of companion animals through leadership and proactive solutions to pet overpopulation, including adoptions, education and spay/neuter efforts. Awarded the highest rating from Charity Navigator for fiscal responsibility, KHS relies on supporters like us, so we can make our area a better place for our furry friends and the people who love them. Flanagan's has been a big supporter of animal groups in Louisville in the past, donating $3,383.76 to Henry's Ark last September from our East Coast, West Cost, No Coast Beer Festival. We also host events like "Pints for Pups," where families are encouraged to bring their pets to the patios of all of our bars and drink a few pints, of which we donate $1 from every pint sold of Flying Dog, Thirst Dog, etc. So for this event, please feel free to bring your own tail-wagger and support our community's furry friends!

Tickets are $40 in advance and go on sale to email subscribers on Monday, April 19th at 12:00 pm at Flanagan's Ale House. There will be a limited number of tickets available, so be sure to get your ticket early! To join the email list, email ashley@louisvilleirishpubs.com!

Also, our rain policy this year is slightly different. If bad weather occurs, rather than "rain or shine," our rain contingency plan will be to move the festival to our new location, Patrick O'Shea's at 123 West Main Street... same date, same time. If it gets close and the weather is bad, please check our web site at http://www.osheaslouisville.com or call 502-585-3700 to see if the fest has been moved!

Was late getting to the one in the Fall, and being Summer for me started about a month and a half ago with this beautiful weather I look forward to relaxing and sampling :D

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

I forgot to mention, we will also be selling designated driver tickets at the door for only $5. That entitles the driver to unlimited soft drinks and live music. It's going to be a blast!

What an awesome "rain or shine" policy - brilliant! Calling my partners in brew right now...

Looks like the weather is going to hold out for us! It's not supposed to rain until later in the evening. Only 3 days away!
