Why we never went back to Jack Fry's

by Ellen P » Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:36 pm

There are so many choices, so one slip up sometimes makes it easy for me eliminate a place. Simplifies my life.
1995. Yes, that far back.
My younger daughter's 21st birthday. I thought I would take her to Jack Fry's for a 'business lunch' celebration. Another celebration planned for that night.
The waiter tossed a basket of rolls on the table and one flew out. No apologies.
We ordered a drink and entree but not appetizer. I guess they were use to expense lunches so we got our food and that was it. Back then, two women at a table was almost as bad as one according to waiters.
Never came back to check on the meal or if we wanted dessert. IT WAS HER 21st BDAY. Yes, we would have wanted at least one dessert.
We did of course get our check.
Really ruined it and have never ever gone back.
We seldom sit at tables anymore because of the service or lack there of, at too many places. We prefer the bar. We at least get our drinks and have a minimal amount of food without worrying about being ignored if we don't order 3 or 4 courses. Heaven forbid we share an entree.
My whole family has worked in restaurants. I have seen it all. If I can't get waited on I don't care how good the food and drink are. Reading other posts, I had to vent.

This same account was posted last year - I remember replying to it back then, and I just found it to assure myself I wasn't crazy. I don't understand "having to vent" about something that happened 15 years ago at a restaurant that has taken on new ownership and new management since then. There's constructive and helpful criticism, and then there's, well.

Very odd, and strange too.

Ellen, in the light of other discussions going on in the forum now, I'd like to ask respectfully: Did you talk to management before leaving? If so, how was your complaint resolved? If not, why did you decide not to do that?

Thanks for confirming that for me. I'm far too lazy to actually go look for it but I just knew I'd read that account before.

Perhaps her birthday is April 13th and she plans on posting it on that day forever!

I know exactly how you feel! I was with 2 girfriends at PeterO's in 1974 and the waiter practically ignored us. I still am livid. To this day, I'll never go back to Peter O's. oh ......wait.....never mind
