(Peeps above the trench and studies the topography ... shells still bursting all around ... I continue to read this thread, but ever since that one bad-mannered wine dude called me a whole bunch of names including asshole -- I prefer "combative" -- there seems like little point in responding ... DUCK)

Shane Campbell wrote:I know, I said you could have the last word but - oh well.

No blackout. I said your final response to me was well-considered and expressed.

Thank you.

Shane Campbell wrote:You made a couple of points that time rather than just pronouncements but I didn't say I agreed with all your conclusions.

The entirety of my argument about Roger's link was contained in that paragraph, which you finally quoted. It was not just a pronouncement. I suggest you go back and look at it again. All the information is in there for someone with the desire to understand it. My clarification was taking you step by step through it.

Shane Campbell wrote:Even so, I would have left it there if you hadn't pulled up your old quote as if it was some sort of stamp of validity.

So, that quote set you off huh?. It set you off so good that you didn't bother to follow and understand the various links in the post it was extracted from, or to even bother to read the thread up to that point.

Shane Campbell wrote:Me too wordy. Sure, but someone should count the words in this post to see who has used more of them.
I don't mind wordy if you actually had a destination in mind. As it it is, you're just chasing me around the cobbler's bench.

Shane Campbell wrote:Again the mature one here ends with name calling. Roger-bot? Well I've been called much worse.

You would know the history of this term had you bothered to read that previous thread. I reserve it for those who try to blindly defend Roger without even understanding the arguments against him. This is a apt description of you, with much supporting evidence in this thread.

Shane Campbell wrote:I disagree with Roger on some things and have said so. I just don't think it fair for you or anyone else to accuse him of affecting a schtick or personnae or whatever you want to call it without one shred of evidence to back it up.

Am I really accusing him of this? I basically said my opinion vacillates on this point. I even asked Roger to clarify it.

Shane Campbell wrote: You accuse him of talking behind his customer's back. Of course this back talking is done on public forums which you and everyone else has access to. Otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it. You call him an asshole and adolescent while your own posts are full of potty insults and name calling.

Had you bothered to read and understand the context, you would have realized that this customer had left a comment on the New Albanian website. Roger was then proud of himself for making fun of that customer by name and in public on A N O T H E R website, without I N F O R M I N G him that he had done so.

So, how is someone supposed to know that he was being insulted on the Potable Curmudgeon website, when he had left a comment on the New Albanian website? Clearly this is going behind his back.

Of course you being you, you decided to call me out on this without doing your homework. You are a truly a good and loyal Roger-bot!

Shane Campbell wrote: Steve, there is no substance to your complaints in my opinion.

I have provided plenty of substance. You have said yourself that some of it was "well-considered and expressed". That's seems a lot more than "no substance" to me. Are you sure about that beer blackout? Maybe you forgot about it?

Shane Campbell wrote:Just base dislike. I have no problem with that.

Actually, depending on the phase of the whole personae/shtick vacillation, sometimes I think I'd like Roger. But then, he goes all assholey again.

Shane Campbell wrote:I read that original thread back when it happened.

Wow! Your memory must really suck dude, because you don't show evidence of having understood any of it. Of course, this IS what a Roger-bot does.

Shane Campbell wrote:My opinion then was it was just attempts to bait Roger by people who do not understand him

So, let me get this right. It's your opinion that I'm the one who is baiting here?

Roger posts his obnoxious link. And then, you get this whole thing rolling by ignorantly calling my response "inane'. And I'm the one doing the baiting?

Shane Campbell wrote: and attempts to label him with things that are untrue. I see it the same now.

I always try to be truthful. Can you point out something I said where you think I wasn't being truthful, or wasn't stating an honest opinion? You could make a list!

You've sent out the Roger-bots to create a diversion. Thus allowing your main force to retreat from battle, back to their muck filled trenches. Only to later emerge once again, to rain down more destruction on the innocent civilians of your hegemonic arch enemy.

Aww man, I can't believe I arrived late to The Official Hotbytes Semi-Annual Craft Beer/Roger Baylor Ethos Debate. (TOHSACB/RBED)

It is one of my favorite online events, as it highlights two of my passions, drinking craft beer and acting like a jerk.

The entire process is very familiar and comforting. The Anti-Baylorites are roused by a Roger Baylor article articulating the same thing that always gets the same group of us agitated. The Pro-Baylorites and of course, the Misunderstood Genius himself, all then go back-and-forth with the exact same arguments and counter-arguments, all the while carefully making sure that we do not accidentally consider where the other side is coming from, just as we have so eloquently done since the very first TOHSACB/RBED we all celebrated with our parents and grandparents so many years ago.

As I have spent the majority of my self-regulated word-limit joyfully reminiscing on this fine Hotbytes tradition, I will forgo my standard TOHSACB/RBED response, which, to be honest, is pretty tired and has grown repetitive even for me.

So, in the name of tradition and all that is both noble and familiar:

Roger is a big, mean doo-doo head.

Thanks, and see you in January!

Now, that was funny.

(except the doo-doo head thing - that was, in political-speak, "mean spirited.")

Because I was trying to increase the controversy level by baiting Steve P into joining the thread?

<chuckle>...There are a lot of things I'd -like- to say but I guess I really don't have a dog in this hunt. I made the decision some time ago to let my wallet do (most of) my talking by simply not buying Roger's beer....EVER. It's a personal thing rooted in MY principles...kinda like not shopping at WalMart. It's a shame really because David Pierce does brew some good (albeit over priced) beer...but then I'm sure that part of the equation ($$$) is not in his hands.

It's a free country, drink whatever you see fit...I do.

I suggest we start a nationwide marketing campaign selling bottles of douche, as we have a ten year supply in this thread alone. :D. I find your attacks to be quite hostile and unfounded, steve,

Pricing is only one of my responsibilities. Brewing is very much an economy of scale. Point of reference, both of our breweries combined are four times smaller than BBC Production. Our pricing is in-line with similar sized breweries selling similar ranges of beer.

Indeed, shop with your feet or your wallet (whatever your meme is this week) but don't expect any Christmas cards from me. Thanks for reading.
