Tis Robin who brought up Adam Smith. So, I'd say that he was a willing accomplice. As was I. But, I'm just some schmoo on the Internet.

Looking at this from a distance, as a former Louisville resident who has lived and traveled all over, much of what I have read seems somewhat distasteful. I won't name call, but I think moderators of forums or bloggers have special roles that can be very difficult. Robin and Steve (is that who runs Insider?) do a great service to the community by picking up the journalism key where the local paper fumbles.

That said, Louisville is still too colloquial. Why be so small minded? I agree with Mr. Burckle...why can't two locally owned ice cream shops coexist in the same urban neighborhood? In a city with a metro of 1.3 million? Here in FL there are few areas with the historic charm and locally owned commercial density of Frankfort Avenue.

I applaud Mr. Burckle for renovating a historic structure. Louisville does not realize what a gem those old buildings are. Louisville is experiencing a cultural renaissance, one that she probably has not seen in over 60 years. There are more jobs being added (among them CC and Homemade), and more of the money is staying in the community. Louisvillians need to quit thinking with the "we can only support one attitude." There is room for UofL and the NBA. There is room for more transplants who continue to add to the creativity of the place and make it a well hidden gem! Also, remember to always support your local businesses unless you want to end up with the generic look of FL, TX, AZ, etc. I am just saying :)

Robin, I thought you might like an update. Today I spent 12 minutes talking to a local business owner near our new store. This was the result of someone whom I know standing in line, today, to place an order at this store and overhearing a public conversation.

The person whom I know interrupted to clarify what they overheard. The person discussing the comments about my business was introduced as the co-owner of a certain nearby business, not the business where the conversation was taking place.

As a result I called the business owner where the conversation took place, as I felt they were not aware of the facts. They did in fact corroborate the conversation. The owner, who was very open to hear about our business, took the opportunity to let me tell our story of coming to Clifton and to clear the air on the rumors previously discussed on this forum. The owner was delightful and appreciated my setting the record straight.

What frustrates me is even after the facts are clear, the rumors are still being propagated. So here on the eve of our Grand Opening I am still dealing with the rumors even after I have stated the facts.

I don't want forum members choosing sides or tossing about comments they later regret or that fuels a defensive response from another forum user. What I want is the respect that I have worked 5 years on, to enjoy my new store, as well as I just want the rumors to stop as there is not a positive to be gained by them.

Adam, I hope the forum members have heard enough now to stop choosing "sides." I've talked to you in Email and to Tim in person. I understand that the "mascot" incident was an honest mistake by an enthusiastic kid, who has apologized, and that you've accepted his apology.

As for all the rest, I get the impression that you and Tim or Roy haven't gotten together for a friendly chat. I do think that might further clear the air, but I guess that's your business, and I may even be mistaken in the impression that you haven't gotten together.

Bottom line, everyone is moooving (oops!) forward, and I'll be happy, myself, if everyone turns out to be good neighbors and if everyone's business thrives.
