I was thinking the same thing; seems like a very trustworthy and dangerous policy.

I think empty "bottle" (singular) speaks for itself, and that the management would be above reproach if they decided to say "Sorry" to someone who needed to drink a case to reach the "don't like" decision.

Of course I know you guys are joking, but I think some people might be rude enough to try it. :P

I wonder how far TJ's would go to actually honor this policy, as it is stated. Are they going to take back 1 out of 2, 3, 4, 5, ect. bottles per week, month, year? Just wondering how the policy actually reads and gets enforced, because you know someone is going to push it to the limit.

Re: trader joe's SAMPLING

I wrote the big long post after we stopped in Sunday and forgot the most important part. When I read about the sampling I recalled it. Guess who I saw there Sunday, chowing down on pecan pie and coffee? YES!! Mr. Samples and his mom. I had not seen them in ages at TFM, but sure enough there they were.

The hubby, baby and I went this afternoon. It was still crowded as hell. We could barely get down the aisles. Many of the items we went to purchase were gone. The items we did manage to find were very good, however.

Taste testings on everything.......

I forgot to mention that on previous posts when word came they were opening a store here. So much I take for granted at TJ's when making a run in other cities. I was looking at a bag of something in Columbus, OH, I think BBQ flavored puffed rice crisps. A staffer happened to see me looking at the bag and said he'd be glad to open a bag and let me try them. I didn't ask, the staffer just jumped when he saw me looking. Never experienced service like at TJ's. It's kind of like people who remember the days when you pulled into a gas station and they not only pumped your gas but they cleaned your windows and checked you oil as a matter of course. Not hard to get used to TJ's!
And someone noted they were surprised it was not larger. The TJ's in Columbus and Phoenix are both about the same size, maybe half the size of the ValuMarket at Mid City Mall. Nobody gets lost from their spouses, etc., in TJ's. If you want caverns, shop at Sam's.

Will someone post when they re-stock? We went, but half the store was missing. Made it kind of pointless.

We went by yesterday afternoon about 4:00. It really wasn't very crowded and everything was pretty well stocked. We spent about $35.00 getting things that we basically needed anyway but really didn't find anything overly exciting that will make us want to run back there on a regular basis. They are a few interesting items, but then again most stores do. I kept hearing how exciting the cheese selection was but I firstly think Whole Foods cheese department is much better. We also didn't feel prices on most items were spectacular. I'm sure we'll go back but.....

The wine shop was a little more interesting. The selection is a little strange ranging from the famous 2 Buck Chuck $3 to Silver Oak $69. We didn't buy anything but did find some interesting bottles in their selections such as Cline old vine Zinfandel.

I stopped by around 2 this afternoon, and it was a lot more crowded than I’d expected. As other people have mentioned, it was difficult just getting through some aisles. (On the other hand, I didn’t have to wait at all at the checkout.) It looked like they’d run out of a few things, but generally the shelves were full. I just grabbed a few of the staples I’ve picked up on trips to Indy and Cincinnati, including the oatmeal raisin cookies, and got out. Some of the frozen food looked interesting, and I’ll go back to check it out once the crowds have died down a bit. I didn’t go in the liquor area, but I’ve never been terribly impressed by the wine I’ve bought at other Trader Joes.
