Fox News has been a leader in the movement--that's part of the problem.

The Election of 1800 is looking around very confused, wondering what this fox news is.

Imagine that. Imagine that the scruffy gutterpunk anarchist-wannabe kids who hop trains, graffiti manifestos, and the like were given their own cable news network and had guests on who just simply reinforced their naive extremist beliefs. That will never happen, of course, but that is the comparable left wing counterpart to how extremist Fox is, the kooks on the far right actually have a 24/7 platform to stir up bigotry, falsehoods, and propaganda. They are no less ridiculous than the kooks on the far left, but the difference is that the far left kooks are kids who mostly grow out of it and the kooks on the right are old enough to know better.

A good comparison Michael and I agree with you. There just isn't an extreme left seen on TV as there is an extreme right seen on TV and with such frequency too!

Ahhh..so predictable!

You were sized, measured and weighed even before your indignation.

Allow me to take just a second to ruin your day:

The repubs have Mr. M. The Dem's, Mr Zoros. Equal money. Why do the dems lose? Why are we speaking of the ills of a repub propaganda machine and not a dem one?

You can look to CN..wait, or Air Americ..wait, or ok the Onion as a resource of info. The point being that you can't even debate a moderate on such subjects. Or you can try and have your head handed to you in a public forum.

For all thier money, the dems are just too uncoordinated to present a strong opinion about anything. Love them, yet this aspect ticks me off...

Here, let's sneeze 3 trillion dollars...

Blah.

EDIT: The fun part is that I already know your next response and how to counter. Bring it, please.

Still like you!

On second thought, this one deserves to die. I'm feeling Kyle's response on the Kilt thread.

I apolagize if I got under your skin with my smack talk.

Cheers!

EDIT: Oh, and nice stab. I got a chuckle out of that one.

Was just having this conversation at work the other day. I don't think most people realize how nasty politics was in the beginning years of our country. I'd say it was actually far worse, then. Looked at differently, it was also incredibly hilarious.

Well Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton knew how to settle a political score and avoid "grid-lock".

Not. Michael, I don't want to see that kind of talk on this forum again.

Oh no, I read it quite fine, condescending tone and all. I just called you to the yard and played a little internal mind game with myself. There's a certain member of the community that knows I was wrong (shucks!) I certainly didn't know you'd go right to the 'your momma wears combat boots.'

My tone was intended to be playfull. I don't think I have ever used that many emoticons and 'I love you's' in a post. Talking a little trash to get your 'A-game.'

And you brought it. The second post was awesome. You deserve praise! You made me think about the subject a little differently (and that's what matters.)

Hopefully I can return the favor in a moment. Do keep in mind I agree with a great deal of what you said. My response to come is meant to be taken as a Mortimer Adler-style debating technique. To him, you should be able to debate both sides of any issue- in order to best understand the subject at hand.

Your posts are predictable insofar as I have seen this behavior before- those on both sides of the fence posing as if they are considerate moderates, weighing both sides before they speak. Look at your own slant- it speaks volumes. "Laughable' used as a descriptor and 'the other side' used to describe conservatives. I rest my case.

Ok, let's play a little game called 'tit-for-tat.'

In society, we have the KKK, the abortion clinic attackers, the Christian Coalition, the militiamen. We also have the red paint-on-fur throwers, the auto dealership burners, the 'free-love' cults.

In the media we have conservative talk radio, Murdoch (and interests,) and small-town opinion writers. We also have the blogsphere king, the Onion, shock jocks like Howard Stern, Soros (and interests,) and big city opinion writers.

Ok, so things seems to balance out, in my book. But then again you tell me that there aren't as many loons to the left as the right. I find this seriously hard to believe. I just think they switch places in prominece of power, ebbing and flowing with public opinion.

It's just that humans tend to have selective attentions and tend to ingnore the excesses from thier own side.

Then we have the lovely assertion that liberal extremists grow out of it and the conservative ones do not. Special. They all just find different ways to express themselves, becoming bigger and badder with every passing day.

On to the next post...

You said that I was claimed to be a 'Party of Reagan' guy. I said 'Party of Lincoln.' Perhaps you should take your own advice and read back over my post.

Ya know what shifted the country to the right? The Carter Administration. People vote with thier wallets and the deflationary/gas crisis debacle didn't go over well. Ya coulda put a talking dog, a russian expat or an ex-actor-turned Ca governor in there with a decent message. People will vote to change thier circumstance. Yes, we can.

'Its the economy stupid.' James Carville, the ragin cajun

You seem to think the entirety of the nation is moving to the right, yet the Dems control The Presidency, The House and The Congress. The election of 2000 went to court it was that close. Are you sure of that assertion, or are you simply angry at Fox News?

Now I agree with you that the right has moved drasticly so, as far as the voice goes. I absolutely hate Newt Gingriche's 'Christian Coalition.' They hijacked a noble party and water our gene pool, so to speak. Now that one really ticks me off- to go from 'shining city on a hill' to... I have no words for it... argh! I voted for Bill Clinton, happily, twice, for his message of hope (and he didn't let me down!)

I love the last part: there is no equal to Rand Paul on the left. Au Contraire. She is the Speaker of the House, the Representative from San Francisco.

(This is where I hold the mike out in front of me and drop it to the ground, walking away like I knew exactly what I had just did)

EDIT: My computer, 'ol Betty is dying as we speak. Sorry for the multiple edits and the length of time involved in producing this. She keeps rebooting on me. I had to rewrite much of this and dare not use my spellcheck....
