Michelle, from my end it's ALL about the restaurant owner/manager. It's ALL about the person working in the restaurant. Have your fight with the other patrons on a parent's forum - I'm with you. Yes, other patrons don't have a dog in this fight. The restaurant owners/chefs/servers DO!

When did parents become "so entitled" that they not only allow/enable their kids to make horrible food choices, but they think it's cool to make everyone pander to their chicken-nugget-enbabling-I-can't-be-bothered-to-teach-them-anything-else-is good-for them ways? It's not all about "them", despite what their momma told them. See where I'm going with this? It IS harming us in the industry in some way. We lose money when they bring in the chicken nuggets. We could make chicken nuggets. We could be tipped on said chicken nuggets.

And then the server gets tipped on you and your wife's pizzas, and then has to clean up the mess your kids made with the Pizza Hut Pizza.

Yeap, because I'm entitled to do what I want because I'm a semi-paying customer.

It's a lively debate. Both sides are equally opinionated. Nothing wrong with that. I understand the business point of view. I get that totally. That being said, as long as there are no posted rules against it, if a parent chooses to bring food in for their child, and the establishment they are patronizing allows it, what is the harm? Is it affecting YOU, as a patron? If not, then look the other way, and let the parent choose how to raise their own child. Several people in the biz have said they have no problem with it, several do. This is still America, we're entitled to agree or disagree.

Again, I am not arguing from the patron's point of view - I am arguing from the business owner's point of view.

I think it's pefectly fine to bring the little fellers into a chain restaurant but not an independent. Just sayin'.

Did I miss something? I thought we were 3/3 "in biz" that hated it.

Paula B. And Stephen D. both stated that while not ideal, it was ok with them.

I stand corrected. 3/5 are not in favor.

Well if I were ever dine with the picky niece and I brought along fast food, I'd just make sure to order an app and dessert to make up for the inconvenience. Plus, we'd leave an extra nice tip. I understand that not everyone does that, though. She's a great kid, but unfortunately, not adventurous in the slightest. We've taken her to eat Vietnamese food, Korean food, etc., kid won't touch it. :(

So how are the general public, some of whom aren't in the know about this lovely forum, expected to know about ordering something not on the menu? I would have had no idea if you hadn't said something. I just think it's unfair to label someone as a rube because they don't know about the unspoken rule. That's not exactly common knowledge. Just sayin'.

I just think it's unfair to label a restaurant owner as the Grinch, just because you don't understand it's impolite to take up space with food from another restaurant.

I have NOTHING against the owners. My confusion comes from the people who patronize the restaurants who are so offended by a child eating food brought in from outside. I understand the owners not liking it. I can't understand why another patron would worry so much about what someone else is doing that they would let it ruin their meal. That's where I'm coming from. Again, how is someone NOT in the restaurant business supposed to know that you can go into a nice local place and order chicken fingers or pizza if they're not on the menu?
