In again today, but this time accompanied by the Warden. She was so impressed that she spent the rest of the afternoon phoning girlfriends to set up soup and salad lunches for the next, oh, I don't know ... six months or so. She had the ham and swiss sandwich and the mushroom soup. I had the roast beef sandwich and french onlion soup. Eveything was outstanding. Now I'm in a quandry - MR soup or FO soup? Can't decide. Might just get a flight of soups next time.

And just when it couldn't get any better, Christopher brought over two complimentary slices of Marsha's cakes - one lemon and one coconut. OMGGGGG  I don't do coconut, but that lemon was to die for. Perfect combination of intense, yet subtle flavors. I know that doesn't make sense, but try it and you'll understand. So now I'm trying to figure out a way to dump the Warden so i can be free to pursue Marsha - whether she is receptive or not. Man, that lady can bake!

Jeffrey, you are so sweet. I'm rooting for the Warden, though!

Hey Jackie, sorry it's taken so long to get back. We've been super busy thanks to all the support from this forum and the amazing article Robin did for the Leo this past week. Thank you Robin!!
Thanks to everyone for coming to see us and support our little shop. It makes us feel proud to be a part of the Louisville community.

Jackie I will definitely be roasting coffee again and soon, we will be serving it here at Joe's but we're not sure what it will be called yet. I miss it too. Also, there are no limits on substitutions for our salads or sandwiches so I'm sure we can create the perfect one for you.... No offence on the soup melding either... to each their own. I put caramelized onions on everything.

...Marsha WOW! Your cakes have been an absolute sensation; people were calling in and reserving a slice all day long. One couple was actually fighting over the last piece yesterday. I even tried to keep it on the down-low as to be able to spread the love out over the forum customers but once it was out the bag it they were consumed in minutes. I hope we can serve them here in the future. The best cake I have ever had.

Have a great week Foodies.

Hope it was not offensive to alter the integrity of the art, but I looove soup and this was awesome. Tuna was great and I'm trying a pescatarian diet so I'll have to be creative further when I return. Vegan meatloaf as the only other sandwich option sounds good, but I bet if I ask for another veg option they'll throw something together. They have enough ingredients that I don't see this being a problem. The salads are mostly vegetarian but if I'm going, I'm probably looking looking for soup and sandwich. Got a carry out menu, too, for delivery at work. I don't think the attn of this thread is unwarranted and I can't wait for the beans to start roasting again. Christopher - will you retain the Jackson's Organic name? You sooo know what you're doing with coffee and I miss it. Would love to pop in for a cold toddy as soon as it's available.

It was my birthday last week and we get to pick a place to get lunch from at work on our birthday, so I picked Joe's. I work with a group of people who think fine dining is Arby's instread of White Castle, so you can see why I might have been a tad nervous. We all ordered sandwiches and each and everyone was a huge hit! Especially the chicken salad. This group only commented on the lack of bread options, but ate every bite anyway!! The complimentary cookies were also a hit (pieces of Marsha's cake would have been good too.....LOL)

We tried Joe's today..... sooooooooo good! My mom was taking care of the boys for me this morning while i ran some errands, so i decided to sneak away for a surprise lunchdate with my husband. I was afraid i did not have enough time to pick it up so i called and Christopher answered and he let me know that they were actually really close to the arena (my husband is working down there). He offered to deliver but i was on the road and it was easy for me to just pick it up.

I got the roast beef w/ carmelized onions for my husband and i had the BLPT. We also got a couple sides of potato salad. We decided to switch a half of each sandwich to get a taste of both. The roast beef was really good, but those onions stole the show!!! They were really nice and sweet i could have eaten them on ANY sandwich. It was a bit dry for me, but that is just me, i like my sandwiches with more mayo than normal, but it was perfect for my husband. The BLPT was great as well, nothin' dry there! I loved it, it was very cheesy, everything just pairs perfectly with that one.

The potato salad was very nice as well, and the cookies a welcomed little treat.

It made for a very great lunch with my husband.

One question, my husband wondered if you would be able to make the roast beef a warm sandwich?

Had the wonderful opportunity to finally go and see what all that chatter has been about, and it has not been off the mark one bit.

Alan and I were running around, and I happend to remember about Joe Davola's.....we both had the wonderful BLPT sandwich, and it is indeed everything it is billed as, and more.....I've always been a fan of Pimento Cheese when it is done right, and this is definatly done right. And in great quanity! Alan couldn't finish his (rare occurance), I had no problem.

Christopher and James have got a great thing going. And the fact that they deliver (particually asked about my office local) is a major plus. Sometimes the usual fare around the office gets tiresome.

I will definatly be going back/calling them in the near future!

Like, Bill, it took me a while to get to Joe Davola's. I had the stupendous BLPT. Superb! I am definitely going to have to eat my way through the menu! Christopher plied me with cookies and then, as he was changing out soups, offered to let me have the odd half bowl of mushroom soup. Liquid heaven! I could easily live on it! One just hasn't had mushroom soup until one tastes this. It is a total food ode to the mushroom. I may have to forego my idea of eating through the menu and concentrate on the soups. I only wish it wasn't so far from my house. Maybe I should move. Can't wait to return.

Everything we ever get is fantastic at Joe's. We recently got some soup for our son and he swore it was Broccoli Soup even though Chris said it was Potato Soup. I don't recall ever seeing Broccoli as a choice at Joe's but it is our son's favorite any time he orders soup at a restaurant...just wondering? Whatever it was he said it was great along with the Narly Tuna. So glad Joe's came along...hoping to see coffee become a part of the store.

I concur, I have had Joe Davola's numerous times in the past few weeks. The savory roast beef is awesome! Soups are pretty tasty as well. They also deliver!

I have been a couple times now and it's becoming hard to pass up eating there every day. Great food at a very reasonable price and the service is very friendly and warm.

Just want to pile on the good reviews.

Had my first sandwich this past Sunday. I had friends in town. We were on our way to see a play at Humana Festival and we were hungry and very short on time. One of them asked "is there a sandwich shop somewhere on the way?" We ran into Joe's got our sandwiches to go and managed to scarf down our chicken salad, veggie meatloaf and roast beef sandwiches in the lobby of Actors right before the play. We were the envy of many and rightly so. Delicious!!!

We didn't really have time to talk about the sandwiches as we were busy eating before final call - but hours later one of my friends made a random comment about how good a sandwich that was.....

I'll be back to get another when I have more time to savor the sandwich and try some soup.
