Oh my yes it was a spectacular evening. I was so stuffed when I returned home last night I was paralyzed. We had an incredible event with so many wonderful, unique dishes I started to suffer from stimulation overload. One mouthwatering creation after another. Like a Roman orgy of food but instead of fatted calves and lamb it was sushi of every imaginable variety. I'll leave it to others to describe their favorite dishes. I don't think I could pick a favorite. I think my favorite aspect of the entire event was the great hospitality shown by Sohee and the staff at Sake Blue. We were able to meet just about everyone, from Sohee and her family members, the sushi chef , all the way to the guy that plated up the dishes. (An artist in his own right.) WOW. That's about the only thing I can think of that would do the event justice.

Thank you Sohee for a memorable evening and thank you Gayle for all your hard work putting the event together. Thanks too to all you that attended. I'm sorry I didn't get to talk with more of you (too busy stuffing sushi in my mouth I guess) but once again the Forum members prove to be some of the nicest (and most interesting) folks around. For those of you that missed the event, we missed you. I hope you'll be able to join us for another event, another time.

In the mean time, if you haven't been out to Sake Blue you might want to consider it for your next sushi experience. I think all the forum members that attended last night would be very happy to recommend Saki Blue to anyone with a hankering for sushi.

I, and my boyfriend Rick, had a FABULOUS time last night with the group!! We got there late due to wrecks, but were welcomed with open arms. The people (I'm speaking mainly about our table because we got so busy with talking and eating that we didn't get up much) were so nice. I enjoyed meeting everyone last night.

Let me say this about Sake Blue, the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxing. The decor was lovely. The staff was completely wonderful. Our waiter, Kevin, was spot on. I know they were expecting us, but they did a fantastic job with such a large group.

I do want to give a public thank you to the restaurant owners. They SPOILED us last night! I could not believe how well taken care of we were. How we were pampered with tastings. Thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!! Rick and myself were very happy with the entire meal. We had, yes it sounds like a ton, six different rolls that were perfect. The octopus and cucumber salad was unbelievable! Again, THANK YOU!!!

We didn't get home from Louisville last night until after midnight. After all the wrecks going on the highways on the way to the restaurant, we encountered a fatality wreck on I65 on our way home to Elizabethtown. We finally got off the interstate (after two hours) and took back roads. LOL

Hey everyone! What else can I say...Carla, you took the words right out of my mouth! It's the only way to describe what went on....Roman orgy of sushi!!! LOL If you would like to see some pictures of the food, the friends and the fun, my boyfriend, Gordon, posted the pics he took on his website, http://www.gordonwork.com

It was great fun! Gayle, fabulous hostess, as usual. Sohee and Mom and staff - Thank you! We will definitely send friends and be back many times!

Gordon's website looks great Carolyne. It lends itself well as a backdrop to the pics of Sake Blue too. I think he did a great job photographing the meal. No food dressers needed there! If you haven't checked out Gordon's photos yet please do. Wonderful!

I'm glad everyone had a great time. My father and I shared a lovely meal at Mitchell's Fish Market. But, don't worry, I still went to Sake Blue last Friday. :D

Such a great evening with fabulous food and fine friends.
The sushi was so inventive and delicious- so many many rolls of different varieties with wonderful combinations of flavors and textures.
My favorite part of the evening was when the boatload of sashimi came to our table (part of the omekase we had ordered) after we thought we were finished. The look on all our faces was priceless. Yet, full as we were, we did manage to dispatch said boat in very little time.
When I left my tummy hurt from all the food and my side hurt from all the laughing with my delightful dining companions- all in all not a bad Monday evening.
Sohee, thank you so much for inviting us and offering us such abundant hospitality, I will certainly spread the word to everyone I know and will be back myself. Thanks you, too, for introducing your fine staff so we could applaud all their hard work and artistry. And a big shout out to Andrew, our server, who guided us through dinner with a lot of patience and good humor.
Now- where is the next off-line? :)

Sorry I missed out....From the pictures it looks like everyone enjoyed themselves, the presentation looked great and some items look very unique. It looks like the Creek is risin' thanks to Sake Blue. Can't wait to try it out for myself :D

What Fabulous evening!

Gina and I enjoyed ourselves beyond our wildest expectations. Yes, wildest. Sushi and sashimi our our fondest food. We were all jacked up and calling each other all day. Sake Blue outperformed. :D

I'd only be redundant trying to describe all the wonderful dishes. Our forumite friends have done a good job of that. This was one of the largest offlines we've had the pleasure of attending. It's so nice to put faces with names.

We'd both like to give a hardy thanks to Carla for originating this idea and Gayle for her diligent organization of this great offline.

Sohee and her Mother were very gracious hosts. The staff did a great job accommodating a large group of hungry foodies. It was very nice to see our friend Roberto has found a home there.

Gina and I plan to dine there soon again. Roman food orgy.....I can only imagine but wouldn't disagree!

I don't want to be the last to add my applause, and thanks, to Carla and Gayle for organizing, to Sohee and her family, Chef Jack and all the Sake Blue staff ... this was one memorable offline. Sushi orgy indeed!

The sushi orgy continues at my home. I warmed up some of the leftover Bulgogi for breakfast. I think that might be right up there with cold leftover pizza for a special breakfast. And now I have just finished a piece of Nigiri sushi for my "high tea."

I can't think of anything new to add to the praises already raised to Sohee and the entire staff of Sake Blue. It has definitely moved up to number one on my sushi place list. Not that I like Maido or Osaka any less, but I do like the menu mix better and I must say the ease of getting to Sake Blue for this suburbanite means that I will be eating sushi, bulbobi, and bibimbap more often.

I can't thank Sohee enough. It was so easy to talk to her and together make the plans.

I also want to thank all the forumites for coming out or canceling ahead of time. There were no "no shows!" :D I think think this is a hotbytes offline first.

I urge all of you that have not yet ventured to Sake Blue to do so.

I'd like to add to the chorus of praise!

I thought the thin sliced and marinated filet was nice. They put hot stones on the table and recommended 5 seconds on each side of the meat. I tried it both raw and cooked, each way absolutely delicious and fun. This is something they have on the menu but was brought out complimentary. I got a look at the octopus salad that Trisha spoke of earlier and will definitely be ordering that on my next visit. Tried surf clam nigiri for the first time, not bad.

Special thanks to Gayle for sitting next to me and doing splitsies (Bulgogi and sashimi!). I'm pretty sure two people could not have been better paired for taste and appetite. We're thinking of dating as a result.

I'd also like to point out/remind everyone that they have some of the former members of the Java Men performing live jazz on Tuesday nights along with penny sake. That's worth a trip.

I had a great time and soooo love the forum members on here. Y'all special people.

It is so nice to know that everyone enjoyed their time at Sake Blue this past Monday! It was equally pleasurable for us to see all of you enjoy our sushi/washoku creations. It know it is tough for many of you to make it out on a weekday especially so early in the evening - so thank you for making the time for us!

By the way, Andrew forgot to pass out the coupons I made up for everyone that evening to his table. If you PM me your name and address, I'd be happy to drop them in the mail!
