Did you notice that it was a Mexican Coke, made with real cane sugar? :)

Ohh yes....the only other Coke I know of that you can get with cane sugar is Kosher Cokes around Passover. BTW...not to change topic but if you have an affection for cola drinks....try Havana Cola....made right here in Louisville. It's a boutique brand for sure and delicious.

My wife and son like the Mexican soft drinks in Mandarin orange and pineapple. A real good Mexican beer would be great with that street food!

I like the Jarritos brand Mexican drinks, too, but for me, the best of all with that street food is the Tamarindo, because it has a really nice tart-sour thing going on along with the sweetness.

On the other hand, you're right, a Mexican beer would be great! Probably run afoul of all sorts of open-container laws, though ... Fourth Street Live is about the only place you can get away with that.

I asked Pat on one of my return trips, they are opening a little earlier today than usual, Memorial day, aiming for around 5. I'm heading out there today for more take out, the tacos and the elotes in particular seem to reheat really well, and I am toting this to work for lunch this week. Does anyone know what is in the creamy green sauce condiment? I am guessing an avocado base, but what else is in there? The red sauce is also really yummy, not too hot, but hot enough to let you know it's there. And Robin, if you'd just give up and move out to the hinterlands you'd be waaaay closer...

Mike and I had a chance to stop by Las Gorditas in the Eastland Shopping Center at Bardstown Road and Watterson Trail this evening. Also had the pleasure of meeting Pat Costas, who owns the business with his wife Esperanza.

I picked up an asada taco, cheese quesadilla and that delicious corn dish. Everything was excellent and delicious! It was also piping hot!!! Sadly, they were out of the Mexican Coca-Colas this evening.

We'll be stopping by again, though it's kind of out of the way from us here in Jeffersonville. I'll have to come up with excuses to head out that way very soon.

BTW, Pat mentioned that several HotBytes folks had stopped in today. Hope some of the rest of you can check this place out too.

Doogy, I think you'll be disappointed if you go tomorrow (Wednesday). According to Pat Costas' previous posting as well as the business card I picked up yesterday, they are only open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays:

We are open Fridays by 6:00 PM, Saturdays by 5:00 PM, Sundays By 3:00 PM and now Mondays by 6:00 PM. Closing time is 11:00 PM or when customers stop coming, whichever is later.
