The Kilt will most likely linger on for quite a while - most of their franchises do well. Something about 'appealing to a certain demographic' that keeps them in business.

That said, I went last night with my father and was somewhat underwhelmed. Not by the 'eye candy', mind you - that was  , but the rest of the experience was a 'meh' on a scale of 'ugh to woohoo'. (in English, about a 5-6 on a 1 to 10)

TV's - second best feature of the place. Not a bad place to sit in the entire restaurant for watching sports. Some of the tv's seemed a little high on the walls, but the constant 'distractions' would help keep my neck flexible....

Food - decent, but overpriced compared to just about every 'sports bar' type place in town. The only things on the menu that weren't 15-20% higher than other spots were the pizzas. The wings were far from large - about the typical BWW's size - and the Kilt Burner sauce was about as spicy as Franks. Not impressed there - especially since you get 10 and some fries for > $8 - definitely prefer the typical 'pick a number' serving style to this. The 'One Shot Johnny' pizza my father got was good, but nothing to write home about either (they should have re-named it the 'Quick Shot Ricky' in this market and waited to see if anyone noticed...)

Beer - Can you say 'overpriced'? Domestic beers START at $4.50 a glass. Unless they offer specials during football season, they won't be seeing much of me and my little crew. A typical 2 beers and a sandwich meal there would run north of $20 with domestic swill, and a day of NFL with the 'crew of goons' would cripple both liver and wallet.

Service - agree with the 'hired for looks vs ability' thoughts. Hopefully at some point they can strike a balance between looks and ability, but right now the scale is definitely skewed to one end of the meter. Wasn't horrible by any means, and very friendly, but there were many <insert potentially offensive stereotype hair color here> moments for sure. Drinks took quite a while to reach the table too - there definitely seemed to be a bottleneck at the bar.

As for the aforementioned demographic - at the Kilt it appears to be males between 40 and 60. Definitely more clean cut and professional than Hooters, and the prices may help keep it that way. Could have been part of the plan, or just a pleasant side effect. I would assume that the Game Day and weekend crowd is probably more 'Hooters-esque'.

I don't think they are counting on efficient service and quality beer to attract a crowd. Swill, TV, and legs....that would appear to sum it up.

And cleavage - that appears to be a big part of the image...

As for the beers, the selection isn't horrid - they have 32 on tap. Trying to get them to post a list, because the servers were all using cheat sheets and the drinks menu was a generic corporate one that didn't list everything.

But at those prices, unless I'm going out with friends who want to visit the Kilt, I'm going to continue on down the road to BBC or someplace similar and get a good beer for the same or less money instead of overpaying for one there just to see half-dressed women. Well, at least 75% of the time, anyway.

Definitely not a female friendly place, from what I'm hearing. I don't want to go out for dinner and feel dirty afterwards.

NABC Hoptimus and BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout are on tap so the place is not unbearable.

No one "told us so" of this place. Everyone KNEW exactly what they were expecting when it was coming to Louisville. Did people believe they were going to have white table linens and valet parking?

I don't think they are counting on efficient service and quality beer to attract a crowd. Swill, TV, and legs....that would appear to sum it up.

Mark said it correct. How do people believe Hooters has stayed in business all these years? Their Oysters?

No. Get real. When a premise of a restaurant has women walking around in kilts and men drinking beer, it's not THAT far of a leap to say..." I told you women would be walking around in short skirts and drunk guys all about the place " .

But, this is just my opinion...

Co-Workers went for lunch. 25 minute wait around noon for a table. 16oz $4.50 bud lights flowing like water(literally) everywhere

And I thought i was the only one who used the ugh-meh-woohoo scale.

John, this gave me a good laugh.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.
