I just dug through this long thread, and buried in the middle of it spotted a note that it begins at 6 p.m.

Is that correct? Seems awfully early for dinner - and poses a commuter-rush traffic problem for those who don't live around Fern Creek.

Sorry to bring this up at the last minute,, but can anyone confirm the correct start time? The post says 6, but that seems a little odd.

Yes, Robin, the time is 6:00 p.m. I'm sorry, but no one has said anything against it. And I think it is a little late to change.

No, I agree, can't change it now. Let's keep this in mind for future outings, though, and also perhaps take care to post full details, not just the date, at the beginning of the topic. Particularly when we're headed for the suburbs, avoiding the massive traffic crunches on 64, 71 and the Snyder is a good thing. And we could always take a poll, but I've always thought of 6 p.m as a bit before the normal dining hour for the grown-ups. Maybe that's just me.

Robin,

I agree about the earliness of the hour, but I'm pretty sure we did the Seviche Hats Off-line very early too ( possibly even earlier). I remember having to dash across town ( the opposite way  ) to make it.
Your point is very well-taken- I'm all for moving future Off-lines to a more decent hour- say 7:00.

Correct, Deb ... as I recall, Seviche Hats On was unusual because Anthony was very generous to start opening on Mondays to accommodate us, and we wanted an early cadre to arrive at opening time to claim tables for our group ... then those who had to work trickled in later.

Oh, well ... I'm just trying to decide whether 64 east to the Snyder south would be better or worse at rush hour than working over to Bardstown Road and then out Bardstown with all the stop lights involved. I guess the Interstates, but it's not going to be pretty.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this evening at Sake Blue at 6:00 p.m. I just got through talking to Sohee, the manager, and she is as excited as I am.

I just wanted to remind everyone what Sohee wrote on her first posting about this offline:

Re: Sake Blue off line event
by Sohee Lacey » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:45 pm

Hello Carla & fellow Hotbyters. I’m one of the managers at Sake Blue, and we’re all very excited to welcome the offline event at our restaurant. After much discussion between the chefs and my family, we’d like to do a couple of special things for the forum members.

In addition to people ordering off the menu (sushi, bistro, teppanyaki), Chef Jack will make a couple of complementary signature dishes that may or may not be offered on our regular menu. These “tasting” dishes will be fun and interesting, and will definitely be unique to Sake Blue. We will also offer a tasting of our premium organic cold sake that will be a crisp & refreshing complement to the dishes.

See you in five hours! :D

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight.

Robin,
I would avoid Bardstown Road coming back from the Snyder at all costs. It is NASTY during that hour. If you could hook up with Breckenridge (past Taylorsville) or Hurstbourne (past Taylorsville) ... that would be your best bet, IMHO. Getting past Taylorsville will be your biggest wait. Good luck!

Thanks, Rebecca! I'm afraid it's just what Yogi said: "You can't get there from here."

Robin, I know 6 sounds early, but that's one of the reasons we are coming tonight (on a week night). We're dropping my kids at their grandparents for a few hours so we can head over.

It's storming like crazy here in Etown. I"m hoping it lets up some.

Trisha, we'll look forward to welcoming you! You just gave us the best reason possible for meeting so early!

I hope the rain lets up for you, too ... storms usually don't last long. :)

6 is a little early for us as well. No complaints, we'll likely just be running a little late. We have to head back over to IN to make arrangements for both of our kids (the furry one included) prior to heading south. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Kudos to Sake Blue for a really wonderful experience tonight. We thoroughly enjoyed both the restaurant and the new friends we made. The food was spectacular. I cannot wait to spread the word about Sake Blue to friends and co-workers. The Japanese Tacos, crispy rice, and Chef Jack Roll were all highlights. Thanks to Sohee for being such a gracious hostess and to Gayle for organizing this offline. We hope to make more of them in the future. Our only regret was having to leave so early.
