I thought you'd like that. DCE is down with the CPC and pirates in general!
We have posters for the benefit now if anyone wants the image here is the link to it:

Thanks again everyone, I know we're doing something really good here.

Is there still interest in a live auction? Because I just realized I might know someone.....I could contact her tomorrow... - please send me a Facebook message (Melissa Richards-Person) because my corporate employer blocks this page at work (it has the word "wine" in it)

Thanks!

Melissa,

One way around the Net Nannies is to try this:

I have heard that it works at a certain large government entity but I wouldn't know for sure.

Not to brag but just to keep the list growing, I've turned over to Shawn a couple of at least semi-collectible wines, good for drinking now or for cellaring, definitely worth bidding up for a special occasion. :)

Cut and Paste e-mail text to promote Benefit

by Melissa Richards-Person » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:18 am

Hey everyone! With Robin's permission, for those of you who like their promotion easy to do... I wrote the text for an e-mail for people to copy, paste and send to friends. Let's put that whole annoying "forward to a friend" thing to GOOD use Seriously, I thought it might help to have something written for people to start sending. .Text is below:

Adam Tatum, the owner of Oak Street Pizza in Louisville, is just a guy who loves putting out good food, trying to run his business and make a living. He’s a one-man show, and has been getting a pretty good reputation for a seriously good pie. That is, until Sunday night, when two men pulled a gun and shot him in a robbery attempt. Adam was hit in the chest and had surgery to repair the damage. He’s still in the hospital recovering, but in the meantime, his business is closed and there are medical bills to consider.

So, a group of local foodies on LouisvilleHotBytes.Com have pulled together to help raise money for Adam and get him, and his business, back to health. Matthew at Derby City Espresso is hosting a benefit on Thursday, October 16 at his coffeehouse and beverage mecca at 331 East Market St. From 11am – 6pm, $1 from every drink will be donated to help Adam and Oak Street Pizza. Then, from 6-midnight, there will be a bigger party, with live jazz (starting at 9 p.m.), a silent auction, and not only a $1 drink donation, but Marsha Lynch of Café Lou Lou will be serving up slices of her to-die-for cakes…price being whatever you want to give to Adam! Foodies are coming out of the woodwork…er…kitchen to help, so there will probably be more surprises in store that night.

Foodies Unite for Adam and Oak St Pizza!
Thursday, October 16 11am – 6pm
Silent Auction and more 6pm – 9pm
Live jazz - 9pm - Midnight
Derby City Espresso
331 East Market St

Stop by on your way to work….stop by again on your way home, and share the foodie love! Spread the word and forward this to a couple friends – let’s do something positive in the face of all this bad news!

Melissa, thanks. That's great!

I wonder if it would be worth repeating that as a new post, which I will also make "Sticky" until Thursday, so people can come to the forum and find it easily.

The only problem with that is that I don't open till 11am these days.
not sure where you got the 6am but could you please correct it in your posts?
I would hate for anyone to come over between 6am and 11am and find me closed.
Thanks.

In other news just did another TV interview, this time with WLKY that should be airing today!

Hey everyone,
I just saw Adam! At Derby City Espresso!
He is out of the hospital and up on his feet and walking and talking and grateful for everything everyone has done!
He will be here at DCE on Thursday night for the benefit so you all will have a chance to meet him if you haven't already.

He totally surprised me!
I am relieved to see him up and out of the hospital so quickly.

I am so there. I hope to meet a lot of the people on the forum I haven't had the pleasure to meet yet. I am so glad to hear about Adam's recovery.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.
