I love a good Rueben. Last week I got the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup offer at Brennons. Soup was a seafood chowder that was excellent and the 1/2 sandwich was a fantastic Rueben. Lots of lean corned beef and really good kraut. It was just right.
Great, now I want one and all I have in the house is peanut butter.

I have to agree that Bankstreet Chef Josh Lehman's Croque Madame is off the hook good, but I'm biased. However at a recent lunch together, Chef Josh turned me on to the Corned Pork Brisket at Proof, its one of the best things I've eaten this year so far. The bread is flaky perfect, the meat is melt in your mouth good, and the housemade kraut and spicy aioli just send it into the flavor cosmos.

Interesting about the Corned Pork Brisket sammie. I've been home corning various cuts of pork for some forty years now. (I "corn" for a minimum of ten days.) I've come to prefer the corned pork to any variety of uncorned pork except for bacon.

I'll bite - a beef combo at Lonnie's. The combo has a hot sausage in the middle of the Italian beef. The hot peppers send it over the edge for me.

Blue dog's turkey, bacon, swiss, green apple sandwich with a side of wheatberry salad. Delish!

As good as the Banh Mi Tit is, try the meatball Banh Mi at Pho Binh Minh, it's S4 on their menu, off the charts!

VK & Annie's make Banh Mi, but in my humble opinion they are not in the same league as the one's at Pho Binh Minh.

Beyond that, an oyster poboy from The Coach Lamp always satisfies, very good.

Hammerheads PBLT (pork belly) with sun-dried tomato aioli or their rosemary and black pepper venison burger. Instant.food.coma.

The fresh-from-Louisiana buns at Doc Crow's make for a mighty spectacular poboy over there, too. Not to take anything away from The Coach Lamp, of course!

ratz!....I got all the way thru this thread think' *I'd* be the first to mention Lonnie's....but Mark beat me to it!! Fair play to you, Mark!
Anyway, as I think the OP mentioned "dogs" in the original criteria, I think I can be the first to mention "The Clark Street"...just the finest hot dog available in this town...and only form Lonnie's!

Shhhhhh.... Don't give away the spot, we can have it overrun with yahoos. Seriously though, their Bahn mi is the best i've had in Louisville by far, and I'm an addict.

I can't believe that this thread has gone on this long and no one has mentioned the Yellow Submarine at Stevens & Stevens. And as much as I hate to promote chains, the Italian at Penn Station is insanely satisfying.
