NJ and I made our way over to Davolas for a lunch after a quick stop at the Home and Garden Show. Fortunately, the lunch was much, much better than the show. NJ's tuna was spectacular and my BLPT and dill tomato soup were equally good. Christopher and James were delightful as were the unexpected cookies. Christopher also mentioned he is very appreciative all the support from all the people at Hotbytes.
We left stuffed and satisfied.

I put together an order from Davola's today at my workplace. We had about 7-8 orders, and everyone was very satisfied! I had the BLPT, and it's my new favorite pimiento cheese in town, hands down. I called yesterday to find out what soups would be on for today so that I could let my co-workers know before they ordered. They listed off the soups over the phone, and all of them sounded excellent! I jotted them down, then received a call back from Christopher a few minutes later. He wanted to know what kind of soup I'd like to have!! I've never, in any level of restaurant service, had a chef offer to make me the soup of my choice on a day's notice! I call that ten steps above and beyond good customer service. I must admit I didn't take him up on it because all of my favorite soups were already on the list.
Kudos to Joe Davola's, and big thanks to Christopher! I'll certainly be back in, likely tomorrow!

The legends are true! Just returned from an impromptu trip to JD's for lunch - WOW. I had the BLPT and John had the Psycho Roast Beef (eye of round, roasted in-house!) and we both had the tomato dill soup. Outstanding!

Run, don't walk to this place. A little bird told me they might have a restaurant review coming out this week...which means it'll be packed for awhile. Go! They deliver lunch, too - and if you are used to ordering Jimmy John's or similar for business meetings, give James and Christopher a try! 690-5377

I want to check this place out, but I am sad that every sandwich has some form of mayonnaise on it and if you order it without you're missing out on what makes it different and special.

I hate mayonnaise. :(

I'll get in there to check out the tomato dill soup though.

Michelle,
I get the vegetarian meatloaf sandwich. It has a tomato spread and James adds caramelized onions for me. He can put wasabi mayo on, but I get it without and it is wonderful.

WOW!.. Again thanks to all friends and customers who have come to see us and spread the word. We are still a work in progress but learning every day. Marsha it was great to see you and John yesterday, your input is always appreciated and respected.

...Folks it’s time to be realistic with our delivery orders and maintain an acceptable delivery time for our customers. We haven't had any trouble so far but we can see the writing on the wall. Due to the increase in delivery orders over the past month, we have decided to reign in our delivery area to the highlands and downtown for now.

We would be happy to deliver outside of our area with a days notice and a $20 minimum, especially work lunches or box lunches..... Megan W, we would love to take care of you! Catering events and private parties are something we are hoping to do more of so please keep us in mind if you have anything going on.

Michelle, Kurt is absolutely right, we will definitely accommodate you and prepare any of our sandwiches without mayo or any other way you like. James can be creative so give him a test. The only sandwiches we couldn't change are the Chicken salad and Tuna salad.

I apologize again for any inconvenience to our customers who have been ordering from us from a distance but like I said with a little notice we will able to get to you.
Have a great week everyone.

C~

Heh, our MRI is broken, and the doc decided that since the repairman is in the office he'd buy everyone lunch from Joe Davola's. I'm currently eating the mushroom soup and a Caesar's salad, and it's very good. They did manage to forget the chicken salad sandwich for one of the therapists, but when we called back to check on it, they offered to send someone down with it(it probably helps that we're one block down the street from them.)

The therapist says the sandwich is delicious.

I had my husband stop by there this morning and get us a couple of sandwiches for lunch. He had the BLPT and I had the Roast Beef and a small container of potato salad. Everything was terrific. The carmelized onions on the roast beef with the horseradish mayo was amazing! We're already planning on when we can get down there again.

Christopher, if you get a chance, you might want to consider investing in some more promient signage for the restaurant. The missus and I have both had friends we've sent your way tell us they were unable to find the place, even though they apparently drove right by it. The painted name on the door is pretty hard to make out from the street, especially for us old folks..

I'm not all that familiar with Louisville and might have missed it too except for "The Bitch" in my TomTom yelling that I had arrived at my destination. That said, it was worth the trip.

Hey, guys - James and Christopher have a couple of my cakes in the house for the rush that will surely come after Robin's review. Go have a sandwich and a slice!
