I'm pretty sure there have been a few of those occasions. I think the one you are referring to was between Bambi and Kerns. I also recall hearing there was one involving Wet Willies. As a result of the that, the entrance to the bar is in the back of the building off the alley. Moving the door to the back added just enough extra steps to get past 700 feet. I imagine a similar line of reasoning lead to locating the entrance to the new Liquor Barn further back in their parking lot.

Bambi wanted a liquor license and got it by being the correct distance IF you had to walk to the crosswalk at T-ville Rd and back up to Kerns Korner. Kern's offered to pay for a crosswalk between Bambi and Kerns, but was turned down.

Couple of others .. downtown at the old decrepit motel inn on (I believe second street) had a nice bar at one time and wanted a liquor license. Couldn't because of a church. They built a low wall along the street to force a person to walk a few extra feet which was enough.

The Winn Dixie grocery at the Douglas Loop couldn't get a beer license because of being to close to the big church across the street. They closed off the Bardstown Rd entrance and made it an emergency exit only, forcing you to enter off of the small parking lot in the back. Got license.
