I just learned about goat milk ice cream. Has anyone ever had it? I love goat cheese; is the icecream of any note?

Mmmmm...Ehrmann's. My mom took me there once when I was a kid....I remember the incredible texture, and the big hunks of butter in the ice cream...damn, was it ever good!

Oh my gosh, was that butter? I always wondered but didn't really wanna know how bad it was for me. Chunks throughout! What a deelight!

North End Cafe had it as a special for a while, a couple of years ago, and it was controversial. People who loved goat cheese tended to love it, but for the uninitiated, its very tangy dairy flavor reminded people of ...

I liked it, though.

It was butter all right ... the chocolate was especially full of it. Basically, their cream was so rich and so fresh that the act of churning the ice cream actually had the effect of a butter churn. They pushed it right to the edge, and stopped just before the whole thing turned into a mass of butter. Mmmmm.

It was really one of a kind, and as much as I'd love to see somebody re-create it, I just don't think it's going to happen. And certainly not at Ehrmann's prices! They were selling for 79 cents a scoop that would have cost $5 at most ice cream shops. No wonder the kids didn't want to keep on doing it after the old man died. :(

And may I add that the 79 cent price tag was until the place closed...when was that? Post two thousand, you almost can't even buy a nasty candy bar for that much anymore. I'd have paid alot more. Also, Kudos to North End for their delicious goat's milk ice cream. I know I've had it elsewhere but can't recall the place. Great idea, even better in my opinion than Sapporo's array of unique ice creams, which I have to have a spread of with my friends every time I dine there. Good ice cream is sooo mmm. Also a big fan of every flavor bombay carries in their gelato case. I ALWAYS get a pairing of flavors, and never the same two twice. Variety is the...

It was a real favorite of mine in the early eighties, a mom and pop shop near my apt made it every week. I especially liked the honey and the carob (it was the eighties after all).
It was very smooth and very tangy.

Oooh, my mom made the best honey and carob candy when I was little, to replace white sugars and the caffiene in chocolate. I thought she was being progressive and never knew this was a thing of pop-80's. What else would you classify as a thing of the eighties, food-wise? I'd love to trigger my childhood memories.

Went to Kroger earlier and brought back a tub of Blue Bell Banana Pudding Ice Cream, thanks to all the raves about it on this post. Can't wait to try it once it hardens back up a little.

I love Graeter's seasonal Strawberry Chip- I think they still have it this month- it's amazing, even though it doesn't sound that great.

I had some Blue Bell Chocolate Brownie overload, also interested to try the other flavs mentioned.

Chocolate Brownie Overload Ice Cream is a luscious, dark chocolate ice cream containing chocolate peanut butter brownies, flakes of dark chocolate, roasted almonds, chopped pecans and walnuts surrounded by a caramel sauce and a whipped topping swirl.

“We combined some of the most popular ice cream ingredients to create Chocolate Brownie Overload,” said Paul Kruse, Blue Bell CEO and president. “The caramel sauce is a perfect complement to the dark chocolate. Every bite is filled with something good.”

I feel like I've been deprived because this ice cream has been out for how long? and I am just now finding out about it. I really don't think it's ice cream, I think they are just freezing actual banana pudding. Best sweet thing I have had in a loooong time :D

Anyone know a place locally to get Blue Moon? Home Ice Cream and Pie kitchen makes their Smurf by mixing Blue Moon and vanilla, which is close but isn't quite what we're looking for.

I saw some at Meijer's over the weekend. It was Meijer's brand.
