As a former owner, this kind of input is invaluable;

That would be fine; if Sergio or anyone else from the staff were reading these Forums.

Are they?

Well, now I am excited!! My son, Eric (member of the senior management team) is back attending and working for the local school. So, that means I can do quality control without controls from the child berating me on profits lost. I got up after 10:00 this morning, because I read these interesting and perhaps deserving messages. Of course, being totally inept in this and many other fields. If my son had not left the info here at the new Sergio's, I would have had to find the forum king to allow me to explain the background to the Problem. I would also be upset with any business that would not give change, as I am when the server looks at your money on the table and says, you want any change. Thanks to all who are defending my son and actually thinking he has a weird sense of humor like his beer crazy dad. He had set up the register at the bar, but I commented to him there was no change (at the beginning - there is now). I am sorry that I am not watching the forum, but was amused when Elizabeth came in saying she wanted $20.00 worth of beer. Now I know. I am slightly open while working, so please, if you are new overlook the non- McDonalds orderly ways. I will post here and follow by having available great beers and food. Roger's special brews will always be found here, as will Browning's. Be patient and bring in those pennies. Love your humor.

Part of the issue here was a lack communication or typing error by the guy who runs Sergios website(his kid).

Yes, I manage the website (that's my business and I help out by running the bar's site as well).

Also, all (if any) inquiries can be directed to me and not through a public method of communication.

Thank you,

Thank you! You seem to understand where we are coming from -- it's not easy moving ;-)

Yes, we have change now. And yes, we did NOT have change at the beginning.

This would be a good place to start.

From Sergios website:

Tabs

There are no tabs - that is against state law! You pay as you get the product during the same visit.

Failure to comple will have you banned and possible legal issues.

Tabs are against state law? I guess every bar in the city is breaking the law.

The only clarification I would be able to shed is bars do not allow cash tabs, but will hold a credit card; say to charge drinks or further bar purchases to a tab. In addition, it may also mean bars do not allow IOU's and payment must be made before one leaves the restaurant after drinks/meals/etc. As far as it being illegal for bars to hold a credit card for a running tab; I would like some type of legal documentation saying it's not legal.

My friend(Pat from Argyle Acres) and I stopped in at Sergios last night. To answer Mr Pierces question, yes they are open. The kitchen is not yet at full swing, although we did get a Louisville Cheese Steak (pretty much on par with Danny Macs, the area bench mark). The new place is a far cry from the old spot in Shelbyville, clean well lit bathrooms, ornate wooden bar, high tin ceilings, and smoke free. There looks to be about eight offerings on tap at the moment, I went with some Bernardus,Ommagang Abbey, and finished with a Bells Hopslam. Sergio showed us a small walk in cooler next to the bar which will soon be home to numerous kegs. On the outside of the walk in there are a large number (over a dozen) taps. The walk in also features a system for dispensing true Irish brews. I was surprised by how big the place is. From the outside(look for the place with no obvious signage or hours posted, just various flags covering the windows) its a bit deceiving as to the size, its a really long building with tons of space. Not yet available are the over a thousand beers that Sergios has listed in the beer "bible" a phone book sized listing of his offerings. This should not be a concern as he has a couple of glass door coolers stocked with a wide array of bottles. Not everything has changed from the old location, Sergios unique sense of humor and what can best be described as "tectonic" service speed are still in tact. While Im still a bit bummed about Sergios moving out of my area (the sticks) and going downtown,I am happy for him. He was really beaming, showing obvious excitement for the new venue. Im looking forward to the offline there, even if everythings not totally finished yet (given that its Sergios it may never be fully finished).
Oh yeah, for those of you that talked about bringing a huge pile of change(Steve P?) Sergios says bring it on.

John,

What's the problem? I answered the question to best of my knowledge. If you feel the response is in error, then I welcome corrections. If you feel my response was to be pompous, it was not.
