Cool it with the personal attacks, please. We don't want this forum going there, and if you think it's funny to attack fellow members like that, the first step will be deletion and the second banning.

I'm guessing you mean Gasthaus, not Gerstles? And isn't Sunergos already considered a part of Germantown?

I thought Sunergos was in Germantown. I live near Flabby's and often like to take a wallk down to Sunergos. As for the quality of Flabby's or Check's food, I thoroughly enjoy it. To each his own, I guess. More Jagerschnitzel for me.

It's when the low-brow isn't just accepted for what it is or trumpeted as being more than that, that's why the comments didn't ring true and I chimed in. Nothing makes me happier than simple food made well and some of my favorite dishes are or have been considered peasant food, but there's a difference between that and simple food made poorly.

What exactly are low brow restaurants/bars. Sounds like these are places that the customers wear blue jeans. Maybe folks that are restoring your electricity or cable? Factory workers, landscapers, truck drivers, or even knife sharpeners?

I go to Jacks, Flabbys, Volare, Maido,Checks, Kerns Korner. Question .. am I low brow or high brow are something in between?

UNIBROW
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

"Opinionated but civil" is fine, Michael. Debate and the discussion of personal opinion, as you say, adds value to our conversations and can make the forum fun.

Personal insults and attacks, however, are, well, lowbrow.

The rolled oyster is one of Louisville's treasures that escapes me. I went to Mazzoni's a decade ago, eagerly ordered rolled oysters. I remember receiving what seemed like tennis ball sized balls of cornmeal with a small oyster inside. I love oysters: fried, broiled, baked, and in oyster stew. But rolled left me a bit wanting.
