We had a Le Peep's in Toledo and my mom and I would go there almost every Saturday for breakfast. We loved it. I still have a sweatshirt or two from there (international eggs). It changed hands and is now a "Cafe Marie" .. very similar but not as good as the original, IMO. The original Le Peep's had a strawberry soup that I truly enjoyed and if I could get my hands on the recipe, I would make it at home. OH, and they didn't serve any biscuits and gravy! :P

Another chain restaurant but a very good one is "The Original Pancake House". It is more of a high end breakfast place. I think there needs to be more breakfast/brunch places as a whole or at least places that specialize in breakfast. I think Louisville is lucky in the fact that there is Toast, Lynn's, and others that have wonderful breakfasts all week long, not just the weekend.

Anyone who has lived in Bloomington or been there might second this one ... the Village Deli. Their motto ... "Eat and Get Out!" They are tops in the breakfast arena in town but do a great business all day long. They state on their menu that since they make all dishes to order, it may take a bit longer. If you want if faster, go across the street (there is a McDonald's directly across from them).

Fatburger is another great burger chain. And they're open 24-hours.

I would like to see House of Blues and their Sunday Gospel Brunch come to town. Like they say, "Praise the Lord and pass the biscuits."
In n Out IMO is highly overated. Fries are "fresh" but are soggy the minute they hit the car window. Bummer. A place like Barneys would do nicely here....Bad-ass gourmet burgers with a Berkeley attitude!!

Dave,

Next time you go to In-n-Out, ask for the fries "well done". Makes all the difference.

Get your burger "animal style". It won't disappoint.

Don't know if it's still there. Just outside of D.C. was an ice gream joint alled Gifford's. Remembering when I was a kid and we'd stop in after a Redskins game @ R.F.K. and I'd get an old fashioned 9, yes 9 scoop ice cream soda...What I would'nt do to have a Gifford's here. Old time Ice Cream Parlor. They served other dishes as well, even breakfast I believe.

Now don't let this post have people going off on how one local ice cream place is better than the other... :P

That's just the restaurant I'd like to have here in Louisville.

Portillos - Hot Dogs (from Chicago Area)

Broken Egg Cafe - Down in Destin area. Killer omelettes.

Goode Company Seafood - Houston, TX with best seafood campeche of all time.

La Madeline - Fresh bread and sandwiches with some cool dishes.

Bojangles Fried Chicken - Southern style like Popeyes.

These are chains, but plenty of indies all over.

I wish that we could have a few Jack in the Boxes around here. Image

Mostly because I have a few fleeting, but vivid memories eating that crap, very late(or early) in the morning when I lived in Phoenix. Sorry to say, I pretty much lived on it for a while. Open 24 hours(out there at least) for $5.00 you could feast on a Jumbo Jack with cheese, 2 tacos(really nasty deep fried things with lettuce stuffed in them),A "Chicken?" sandwich and fries and a drink...Oh yes make that a Dr. Pepper(the Arizona state drink) and give me some extra ranch dressing(the other Arizona state drink). not only that, but they had the best commercials on TV. Their ads are very clever most of the time.

When I lived in Calfornia, I tried the Jack-in-the-Box burger, once. That was it for me. That thing was an effing cheese-engorged greasebomb from Hades. I'd rather eat a White Castle -- at least its greasiness isn't out of control in comparison.

My last few years in NYC I was addicted to Ruby Foo's- an eclectic pan-asian place. There are two in Manhatten and there is talk of oening others. It isn't a chain but is owned by BRGuest restaurant group.
Sushi just never tastes the same to me without their cilantro dipping sauce.

The one in Cincy is awesome, good food and excellent service. I witnessed one of the servers being trained and the manager actually counted the number of sweetener packets and got down at eye level to make sure everything on the table was perfectly lined up. Thier crawfish bisque and praline cheesecake is outstanding.

Guthrie's Chicken Tenders are the best fast food chicken tenders, if not any restaurant's that I have ever had. They have a very simple menu of Chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, fries, and slaw and I believe that's it. Hoiwever, the breading was very thin and excellent, and their dipping sauce was outstanding. The closest thing that I can think of nearby is Zaxby's in Shelbyville, but Guthrie's blows it out of the water.

I'd love to see some Kentucky restaurants such as Moonlight BBQ and Patty's Settlement at Kentucky Lake have nearby loacations as they are excellent. I know this will never happen, but I can dream.

It wasn't long ago that we did have Bojangles. Too bad, I always liked their chicken, but several of the old Bojangles' places are now Indi's spots, which satisifies that craving for me just as well.

Cilantro dipping sauce on Sushi? That sounds... disastrous. >_<

I'm probably going to get slapped for my tastes (again), but I *love* Indi's spicy fried chicken and their marvelous potato wedges. I don't eat there much (as I like not being obese), but I get cravings for their chicken all the time.

Indi's is the place to get your fried chicken fix, y'all!

Nothing wrong with Indi's spicy chicken (although I don't get the appeal of wedges). I love Popeyes chicken.
