Aaaw, Robert... I sit on the sidelines of most of these conversations, and actually root for you a bit. Although I prefer my steak rare to medium rare, that is my choice. The way you prefer your steak is your choice. But why not give this a shot? I thought David was being very generous, and with such a nice cut of meat and the proper preparation, you might be surprised. I don't put others down for their personal preferences, and I don't expect them to do that to me. But I am always willing to try new things, and this sounds like a fair deal - give it a try, why not!! :D

Fair enough, but I asked you once before, but is it not wanting to the pink color of the meat? I know a lot of people who just can't deal with that.

Dave, I'm not a gold digger, but I would like to take you up on your offer. Let me know when and where. Heck, maybe Robert will join us as well. In addition to your offer, I challenge Robert to come over there with me and get his steak done medium well instead of well done. So, let's see what happens.

Come on man, let's go enjoy that free steak dinner. If Dave is kind enough to offer, can't you let go this one time?

Look down your nose if you must, but I think TR's quality is just as good, if not better, than anyone else serving an identical grade of beef.

I've been to places where you can get a steak dinner and all the fixin's for under $20 and I've been to the nicest places in town. The main difference is the service and ambience. There may be a slight difference in the quality of the beef, but is that difference really worth $100 just for the meat alone? To me it's not, bit for that special night out or such things as that, the ambience and service may be worth the stratospheric prices.
Hey Doogy- I've got a Creekstone Angus Sirloin with all the trimmings for $18 and I'd put it up against anyplace in town! Stop in and I'll buy you one on me! That offer also holds true for Robert as well-Dave

Your on! I'll even wear my clown suit...........

Let me know when. I've tried to get our pal Robert to partake of your kind offer, but it seems as though it's not gonna happen.

Sure it will!! (I'm optomistic) I never get an answer to this question, but I know a lot of people who just don't want to see the color, and I know David can make it right by you, Robert! But I'll stop talking now...

No free beer!

"Dave, I'm not a gold digger, but I would like to take you up on your offer."

That's not gold digging -- it's just being cooly rational. Too bad not everyone sees it that way.

Dave: At least make him fess up for the beer ... I need to keep you in business, and this free steak promotion has me concerned.

Okay, so I didn't know this post was going to be so popular! The day I posted this message I got a welcome coupon from Z's, so that is where we ended up going! I do love me some Texas Roadhouse though! Z's turned out pretty good. We got calamari which was very tasty. It has some olives and peppers mixed in. I then got the Steakhouse Salad and my hubby got the Washington Salad. I think I preferred his. It had apples and caramelized nuts in it. We then shared a Ribeye. It was okay, but was done a little more than the medium that we asked for. For a side we got the Cheesy Browns (I think that was what it was called). We should have gotten a different side though. It wasn't that great. I would have preferred the potatoes to be cooked a little less. Overall we had a good dinner and got to eat at a really nice place.

With all due respect to the yet-to-be-tasted flesh at Bistro new Albany, let me again encourage folks to try Palermo Viejo. Good price and stunning meat.

BTW, as for your experience at Z's. I don't return everything that's not perfect at a restaurant, but given the $'s that a steak costs at Z's, I would want it precisely right.

Completely agree Charles. I had a wonderful tenderloin (the "Lomo") for $14. It wasn't a huge cut, but I'd rather have quality over quantity in my steak.

Plus, it saves room for that homemade banana ice cream, which is just ridiculously tasty.

Ummm, I recommended a much higher-quality steak that's around or under $20 at Bristol Bar & Grille. This is *not* a matter of elitism, it's a matter of what's MORE DELICIOUS!
