This is getting almost as ugly as a past post about a Mexican rest. on Frankfort. Let it go, please. Agree to disagree or take it to an offline venue. Robin, I truly love to read here. A co-worker called it potato chips for a foodie's mind. Robin, they call it pig wrestling. You both get muddy but only the pig enjoys it. Salud!

Well it has become apparant that it cannot be backed up with fact that chians pay less than and offer less benefits then local places...Neither has the HOST answered it or has the MANY LOCAL owners of places to eat that use this forum. It will go down as another false chain myth....and with that I will let it go....Unless someone out there can show me the facts. The bottom line is that 100 new jobs are just as important no matter who owns it.....period..... :)

Hi, hope you are all well.
Mr. Zsappanos should be a line cook as he pushes buttons and stirs the pot with the best of 'em. Four dozen reply posts about a common chain opening a new local unit is pretty good. Everyone, including Mr. Z, has a genuine interest in eating out. But Robert finds there are plenty of people who will rise like fish in a barrel to a tap of his finger on the water and he tweaks us masterfully. It may be a little fun for him short term but not good for him or others as it goes on and on. People think differently about things. That's the way it is. We are not always obligated to respond to opinions we do not share. We do not have the right to expect that everyone who posts on a restaurant site share our cherished views. We vote with our actions by eating where we want as we are able to within the context of the many priorities in our lives. And on forum posts we choose what to respond to and what to let pass by. It doesn't matter if one or the other hits the ball into or over the net. If you don't swing, then game is over.
My wife and I have eaten at Red Robins elsewhere and it was very satisfying for lunch.

Ugh... Rob Z. is a pest. That's all - nothing more. There is not a "clique" pushing this opinion. I am sure of it.

robert szappanos wrote:Very good point...and that is great. But you will find that a lot of chain places donate money all of the time....They just dont seek out the media for it.

I don't find fault with this, but chains are the very best at seeking out media or other recognition for donations.

Damn, my net was down for two day's and I missed so much fun!! I, personally, LOVE Robert as he provides such an obscure, bizzare, and yet insightfull dialouge to all that is chain food, and food in general, though misguided! (thank you Robert!).You are the "Lone Ranger" and for that you can be proud!!.......Indeed, I can think of no other member of this forum that consistently holds true too form as you and predictability is a fine trait....I wish I had it myself as I bend in the wind!(then again, I cook for a living and that is par for the course..) To stay on topic, I had a Red Robin burger in San Jose and it was sub-par at best....(sorry)

No disrespect, Dave, but I ain't drinkin that kool-aid. I'll stand by my statement 100% - I'd prefer to not have to rifle through the idiotic crap he brings aboard.

That's very obtuse by you and those that are "against" this chain...believe me, the city of Louisville stands more to GAIN by this next Red Robin, then if it weren't there all together.

All Robert did is what a lot of us do, annouce a new establishment. The very 1st post after that degraded the whole thread. So, thanks everyone for a POS of a 4 page thread.

And, YES, I read them all. Even some of the ones I like around here.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Robert, I offer better than average wages to those who are qualified to work in our kitchen...
... But then again...

We do a lot more where I work at than opening bags of processed food for re-heating....

Soup in a bag is "tasty"! .... So is that processed(full of preservatives and fillers) well done piece of meat you enjoy!

Not to mention after 90 days of full time employment we offer health insurance(Find that at your local chain! Or anywhere for that matter!)

I invite you to spend a "full" 13 hour day in my kitchen Robert (Brush up on your knife skills) and then maybe you may have the RIGHT to talk about "How easy it is for the LOCAL restaurant owner" Even though I don't own my own place I think that you might have a much better understanding why we all make fun of you so much!...

So what do you say! Put on your training wheels for a whole day in my life and see what its really like before you pass anymore judgements!

On the same token, I would like to have a little more knowledge about predicting the weather without going to school or spending many years in the Air Force...All I see are big Puffy Clouds and usually come up with the same prediction your computers and all of your models come up with (If you Live in the Ohio Valley; The weather Is never the same)!

Well thank you Doogy...and thank you Dan...YOU were the only one that would answer me....I never said that working at a local place or chain was easy...If you read the very first post ...It was about a new place that will offer 100 new jobs....and what happened...because it is a chain...I get slammed...again...Then the host mentions about how poor the wages are at the chains...and i simply ask what is the pay difference between a chain and a local place.....NO TAKERS...knowing that a lot of the members of this forum are owners or work at local places.....My oroginal comment still stands...a 100 new jobs is a 100 new jobs....period. So I think that I asked a very simple question to the board...mainly the host who was the person that brought it up....about the pay at a chain....What is the difference....Do people ruch to work at a local place before a chain because they pay better or have better benefits or is it the other way around or are they all about the same.....That was and still is the question......and again Doogy you were right on......and Dan thanks for at least trying to reply.... :D
