Last reminder (this year at least!) about the 3rd Annual Keg Liquors Fest of Ale being held today from 3 - 7 PM. Come out, enjoy some great beers, and help out the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Todd threw a great fest yesterday in spite of adverse circumstances that included flooding just north that kept some breweries from arriving on time, and some seriously nasty heat and humidity. But it was a great crowd and many fine beers, plus meat from Mark's and Gumbo from Carly Rae's.

My beer faves (only those I hadn't tried previously)

Schlafly's dry-hopped brown
Mishawaka Hophead
Cumberland IPA
Upland's below-the-shelf fruit lambics

I'm very proud to report that we donated $1580 to the Crusade for Children from proceeds of food sales, the silent auction and ticket sales. This is by far the best donation that the festival has generated, and I want to thank everyone who donated their time, products and efforts for the festival. And a big thanks to everyone who attended. Aside from the crazy heat, it seemed like everyone was having a great time. Maybe one of these years Mother Nature will give us a break on this festival. In 3 years we have had overcast skies and 55 degrees closing with spitting rain, then torrential downpours, wind and lightning, and then this years stifling heat and humidity. Maybe next year we'll get some snow!

Thanks again!

the final tally was me drinking 22 beers and they were all awesome, save the snakepit porter which tasted bland as hell and the cumberland celtic stout, which was about the same. two dollars bbq was awesome. it was fun as hell.

I had the pleasure of sampling these during Brew at the Zoo last summer. Caleb did a great job in recreating the style. Too bad it is so cost/time prohibitive to produce on a regular basis.

Todd, sounds like you through a great event. I was thinking of you all as I was pouring concrete counter tops in my kitchen and sweat was pouring down my nose.

had a great time. Nice, enthusiastic crowd. it was hot but not as hot as Brew at the Zoo 2 years ago, so the heat didn't totally bum me out.

Favs:

Schlafly india brown
Upland Lambic
Cumberland Yerbeer and KTIPA
New Albanian Hoptimus, the sour quality of the Phoenix Louisville common beer was an interesting twist too.

Was it just me or did the Barley Island Bourbon stout taste like it had actual Bourbon in it?
