The hubby and I stopped by last night for an inexpensive dinner. The food was great! Thanks for the heads up!

California seems to be wrestling with similar issues, according to this article in the LA Times. Of course for them there's power in numbers, and their "taco trucks" have built up quite the clientele.

After dining on fish purchased and grilled on the side of the road in Central America (and not getting sick), I've learned that if you use some common sense you can get some really good, safe food from mobile purveyors. I'm all with the other posters who have said it's a matter of personal choice to take the chance.

But then the last time I got sick from food was when I ate at one of the national burger chains, and you wouldn't think that would be much of a risk.

Hello Folks,

I just came back from the Gordita trailer and I was called out! Owner/operator Pat Costas asked me if I was the one who posted.
He told me that the trailer does have a mobile license by the board of health and they very much understands folks concerns.

I truly hope this post will reep beneficial rewards for him and his wife Esperanza. They are lovely folks and always very friendly to whomever comes along.

That said, the only risk is to your waistline. Again...very good Gorditas.

Best,
Sarita

Thanks for the follow-up report, Sarita! Are they still open Thursday and Friday nights and then Saturday and Sunday after 2 p.m.?

Yup..weather permitting. They do have a complimentary calendar card if you ask for it with a number on it so you can confirm if they are indeed there.
Pat told me that some folks from the board had come by to check it out.

I noticed when I was there some torta's being assembled. It might be my next try. Very much like cuban sandwiches.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

We drove by earlier and the tent was not up. I was sorely disappointed.

We were going to drive out from Crescent Hill, and I would have been even more sorely disappointed! We're going to have to put up a forum gordita watch and have people post when they find it open. :)

I went by tonight to check it out, too ... thankfully, it was on the way home from out in Fairdale! Great sadness ....

I know how that feels. It's a terrible thing when you get your cravings all up and they are not there. :(
I will post when I see them since I drive by there often. Or...they could join and post on the board that they plan to be open I suppose.
I gave away my last card for them so I dont have the number.

That's odd, because my wife and I got dinner from there on Saturday night around 6p. What time did you get there?

LA is having a even bigger problem with the "bacon dog" vendors. Basically, deep fried bacon wrapped hotdogs. Very popular and none of the vendors have the "proper" equipment that LA/Cal requires. Selling bacon dogs is now a black market business. One vendor spent something like 45 days in jail for selling them. Completely insane (and they sound very tasty). Then again, anything wrapped in bacon sounds tasty.

Personally, I want to try a bacon wrapped Hebrew National beef dog, mostly for the delicious irony.
