You know, it's a funny old world we all live in. For each of us its a different world and yet its all the same. Even as we see things each from our own perspective, as most of us experience the world, those perspectives change and we begin to recognized the validity of others.

I've posted many foolish things on this forum. Some worse than this one. When I do, I always leave them. I expect we'll move on when we're ready. Cheers Jason!

The Lexington Herald Leader has a couple of good articles that do more than rehash the details of the lawsuit.

The first discusses various reactions to West Sixth's decision to publicize the issue. It reveals some thing about West Sixth's owner that I found surprising!

This one discusses West Sixth's logo design with the designers.

Does anyone else see the confusion between the Mountain Dew logo

https://www.google.com/search?q=mountai ... ent=safari

And the Magic Hat Cucumber hibiscus ale?

http://www.magichat.net/elixirs/hicu/

I hope they don't get sued.

Hasn't that been the sub-text all along? It's like Blue Moon Lite?

It's an important sub-text. Self-respecting "aficionados" haven't touched Magic hat for quite a while, and today's target Magic Hat drinker likely is ignorant of the social media furor. This imbroglio is damage-free for Magic Hat.

This is an attack over packaged shelf space, nothing more. Magic Hat wouldn't bother if West 6th wasn't producing cans that might displace its own product. The lawsuit threatens a financial drain on the part of a start-up -- and that's why it's bullying, pure and simple.

It genuinely perplexes me that some the more sub-par "microbrewery" brands continue to remain so ubiquitous despite the overwhelming number of quality alternatives that have arisen in the last decade or so.

Interesting stuff to be found over on that Reddit thread where it turns out Magic Hat may have thought it was the shark, only to find out it was tangling with an even more dangerous corporate Orca. The West sixth guys it turns out are more like Frat-brah, Ivy League MBA types. One fellow was an ultra saavy digital media guy whose company was sold (presumably for a ***-load of money) to a corporate outfit. Now that cash (if the stories are true) is not only going into craft brewing, but also into snapping up all the surrounding real estate. Nothing like supporting a gentrifying land baron, eh?

Now don't get me wrong. I have nothing against anyone selling out and getting really rich by the time they're 40. I'd have liked some of that action myself. But what I don't get is Magic Hat being among the pioneers in craft brewing in the early 90's, then selling to a corporation and now they're the bad guys. OTOH you have someone who builds a digital media company, sells out to a corporation, and then plows those millions into craft brewing after it's an established trend (and arguably taking some shortcuts in their marketing). And THEY'RE the "good guys".

And not to bring partisan politics into it, but this guy was also the technology director for the Democratic National Committee during Obama's campaign. No, not a small fish at all. One wonders why he keeps begging for your help when he can just pick up the phone and get President Obama on the line.... Guess Magic Hat should have done THEIR due diligence on who they were tangling with. But I still think those who think they are rooting for the "little guy" are getting played for suckers.

You'd think credulity would be an endangered species on the Internet. This just shows people continue to believe what they want to believe. For me, I'll just continue to blame the lawyers.
