There were no Fisch's "blocks from each other." The other Frisch's, the one at Bowling Blvd, wasn't there then. And, of course, Bowling Blvd. wasn't there then, either, I don't remember what, was between the Mall and Shelbyville Road Plaza (home of Levy Bros. and Sutcliffe's among others) in the 60's, but maybe not much. I'm thinking the Pryors became Frisch's in the mid-60's.

That was a Frisch's just east of the Plaza. It use to have a large covered area in the back for cars to park for curb service. My aunts use to cruise there. And I remember Kroger, Woolworth, Gateway, Consolidated, etc. at Shelbyville Road Plaza.

These links have a treasure trove of information on long, but not forgotten places and people.Someone went to a lot of trouble to collect, scan photos and articles and put together this collection. They are PDF files and some take a while to open. They are in alphabetic order.

Wow. What a neat buch of stuff for some of those areas. And what a huge amount of work that person did. Thank you for sharing it.

I was wrong about the Frisch's at 4800 Shelbyville Road that burned in 1968, but I'm still pretty sure the Pryors at 4170 Shelbyville Road became a Frisch's, too, before it was an Arby's. At least that's the way I remember it.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
