We loved the asparagus app and I loved the olive oil cake for dessert. One of us (there were 4) got the beef cheeks, and he was very happy.
Well, I don't mean to defend them other than to point out that we had really good experiences, and portion sizes that I considered appropriate for fine dining. Not Henry VIII orgy-style to be sure, but none of us went away hungry, and we weren't offended by the apparent size of portions on the plate.
Actually, when we were at La Coop, one of our party thought her scallop dish (coquilles St.-Jacques) looked small, but after she got into it, she realized that it was so rich that more would have been wretched excess.
* Footnote: I dined there, and wrote the original post in this discussion, before the CJ report came out, but the lines crossed, and my HotBytes/LEO report ran the Wednesday after, which would have hit them with a one-two punch. I don't think the CJ drives a lot of traffic any more, but even so, the impact of two reviews in one week had to put them to the test. Maybe they staggered a bit afterward?
