I saw this page...

http://www.southernliving.com/travel/so ... 000076978/

"Method #1: Visit http://www.southernliving.com/tasty to vote for your favorite tastiest town and follow all entry instructions to complete and submit the online entry form. Online entries must be received between 2:01 PM Eastern Time ("ET") on Thursday, December 22, 2011, and 11:59 PM (“ET”) on Monday, April 30, 2012 (the "Sweepstakes Entry Period")."

So there seems to be some conflicting information.

Ok I see where it says the 31st now. Maybe April 30 is the deadline to win the prizes? Why would you still be allowed to vote after voting is over? Strange.

Remember that Southern Living's agenda is not our agenda. They want visitors to their Website clicking on the ads, and they want people not to notice that the ballot also includes a checked-off block that subscribes you to their publication. In other words - and I say this analytically, not in judgement - this is all about traffic to them, and the contest is entirely secondary. It doesn't surprise me that nobody noticed the conflicting dates.

I'm going to assume that the Jan. 31 date right there on the ballot page takes precedence over the fine print, though.

Additional reading shows that the winner is going to be announced in their April ( print) magazine. Clearly the deadline for voting is not also April, and January 31st makes sense as the final date. ( "April editions" ship in March to subscribers, print in late February, layout before, etc).

They are harvesting email addresses for future spam too.
