That puts a whole different light on it, Derrick, assuming that the mayor's office sticks to it. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, at least until proven otherwise, although at the same time we'll certainly be happy to air the details here if it starts to appear that barricades are going up. Thanks for making the effort to get this.

Well, there's always "the rest of the story."

Food Trucks are not permitted in any residential or office residential zoning classification. That's 82% of the land mass in Lou Metro. (75% of Lou Metro is zoned for single family, 6% is zoned multi-family residential and just over 1% is zoned office residential.) Those are facts.

The 25' rule between trucks is also contained in the Regulations. It's there is black and white. If LouMetro chooses not to enforce the rule to shut down events like Truckus Ruckus that's great, but we're depending on IPL not to enforce it's own rules.

I've also emailed with Brandon and he tells me that the "truckers" interpretations of the regs are incorrect, but so far no one can tell us why our interpretations are wrong. This is one of those times when I want to be wrong.

So, support your local Food Trucks by attending TRUCKtoberfest this Friday night.

And the "truckers" and Metro officials have a face to face meeting scheduled for next Wednesday.

The actual ordnance that was passed by metro council says or does nothing in reality. All it does is provide a definition of what a food truck is and a list of the applicable regulations. Other than that the only thing it does is define distances. It took away none of the previous requirements. If metro government really wants to help encourage the food truck industry they need to put in words what they are implying they will enforce. Without doing that the food trucks are just relying on their faith in government (which is pretty well for most of us) that they won't be arrested while violating some of the previous regulations they were told not to worry about!

I'm attaching a copy of the ordinance in case someone has seen it.

Are all the criminals around here pedophiles and rapists who enjoy cooking and ripping thru the streets in a taco truck? Lets get these creepers off the roads and back into kitchens where they belong and won't have any contact with children, unless you count the 16 year old hostess (or busboy, whichever)...

Had a meeting with Brandon and he has a draft proposal for the metro council. We have a meeting that is solely about food trucks. They are making us exempt from a few of the things we had issues with. Its a step in the right direction and they really want to help. Fischer came down to Trucktoberfest and we talked a bit. Before I was a bit upset and thought that it was some sort of attack but now I see that its more misunderstanding about our concept and how its run operationally.

I don't want to give the details of the draft away yet because as of now its not legit. Its just something we are proposing to the council and they have to approve/reject it or some sort of middle ground needs to be established. Once we get the final say on it all Ill be happy to inform everyone of the changes. Which is a given since it is pretty well known that I cannot keep my mouth shut.

Kudos to Mayor Fisher and aide Brandon for doing something politicians rarely do - listen. Everyone try to imagine previous mayors showing up at Trucktoberfest and trying to make this right. Kudos to Matt for taking a deep breath, calming down and working with a system that shows signs of being responsive.

Lil Cheezer's is setting up at the cigar store on Bardstown Road tonight, speaking of food trucks. May have to stop by before going out to mourn Ear X-Tacy.
