Count me among the people who wish more of our Bourbon would come home. A disturbing trend (for me anyway) is the export of more and more of our limited release Bourbons to the nether regions of the country...The east coast for example...where (as an example) my Manhattan residing daughter tells me it is all the rage for urban trendsetters. Equally disturbing is the blatant abuse of this fine spirit by those who in a "correct" world would not have access to anything north of Jim Beam...Case in point, on a recent foray to Boubon's Bistro I felt the blood drain from my face as the bartender described a customer (sporting a "not from around here" accent) who asked to be served 15 year "Pappy" and Diet Coke. To his credit he refused.

I'm fairly sure we can get any bourbon here (if not more choices) than other parts of the country. But I disagree, the more bourbon Kentucky sells all over the country and all over the world only helps the industry and Kentucky as a whole.

The popularity of bourbon and the bourbon trail, articles in NYC and LA papers about food and bourbon is great for tourism and public relations for our state and will lead to even more tourism from those that are just curious about bourbon and our great restaurant scene.

Selling and sending more product out of state is always a good thing.

I agree with you that when bourbon sells - no matter where it sells - it's good for our state's economy. Steve's beef, if I remember correctly from reading it on another thread, is that when quantities of a limited release bourbon get shipped to other parts of the country, that means less for us here, and it makes it harder to come by in actual bourbon country. Nothing wrong with wanting to hoard our delicious brown nectar... but also, people across the country becoming interested in bourbon brings them and their tourism dollars, which is awesome for everyone.

Homie gots no problem with sending yer run of the mill stuff out of state but damn them folks who sends off all the GOOD stuff. Make 'em come here to drink it...now that'd be tourism.

Stop in at Bourbon's Bistro...we were just discussing with the bartender there (a night or two ago) a number of premium/limited release Bourbons that have become VERY difficult to get.
