This is my last post on this topic, I hope...

I've been counseled to step back and good advice it is. But I will leave with the truth on the table.

What that guy did to the Ghavami's is an affront to God. Good on Majid for not allowing him to play predator, anymore.

Our conversations about thier personal life have no bearing on this forum. Your steak will taste no better, your coke will come no quicker, that warm smile and gracious hospitality will not waver.

To anyone that reads this: do not let our impassioned debate sway you from patronizing his establishments. Indeed, it should encourage you to do so- that so many in the community feel so strongly about these people.

You'll be glad you did.

We went with friends last night, and Mary and our friend Bob both were the first people ever to try their brand-new hamburger (bar side only). It was awesome, a huge, juicy patty on an excellent bun, with outstanding thick hand-cut fries. I had the ahi appetizer, slices of sushi-grade tuna crusted with porcini dust and just seared around the edges, sushi-rare in the middle, with a ration of Iranian pickled veggies and a little ball of goat cheese rolled in herbs. Amazing.

I did have to fight off a little of the "Recognized Critic Treatment" and finally had to call the server aside for a little chat about "$%#@* LEAVE ME ALONE I JUST CAME HERE TO RELAX", but I recognize that this is all simply based on Majid's overwhelming commitment to giving everyone attentive service. It just doesn't happen to work well for me.

Amen. And I've followed Stephen D's writing style long enough that I have no trouble hanging on for dear life and enjoying the trip.

I am kind of a big deal.

Not me either, it is not my place, nor in my nature to judge the intimate dealings in ones' personal life. You may need to reread my thread. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Majid.

I don't see anything that Brian Curl posted as inflammatory and nobody is being thrown under any buses. Nothing in this thread even hints at discouraging the patronizing of Majid's establishments. I will say that "bizarre" is better aimed at some of the posts displaying the emotions and overreactions in this thread.

Anyway, I once had the privilege of meeting Majid and he was very kind and genuine...and what a pro! I hope that justice prevails.

Peace!

Now I'm really confused because the link no longer works. I'm not trying to get into the middle of it, but if federal charges of any kind are pending, it will be in the public soon enough. Remember, everyone is (should be) presumed innocent until proven guilty. I couldn't really follow the entire conflict, but I hope if news is posted on this forum that others will not react so aggressively. But maybe I missed something.

I'm always of the mind that if some injustice is happening, take it to the streets. Maybe people on the forum can offer assistance to Majid, if simply just saying what an outstanding person he is.

Goodness gracious talk about shooting the messenger.

We think the world of Majid - we hope that this is only a cruel distraction and is quickly resolved.

Maybe Dan and Stephen D are reading a different thread, b/c I can find no where in this one that anyone has thrown Majid under the bus. As a matter of fact, the overwhelming majority of the responses to the OP have been positive towards Majid, stating that he is a quality guy, a top-notch owner/manager/etc., and that his emotions got the best of him dealing with someone who probably deserved worse.

Even the OP was a relevent re-post of a local news story carried by multiple networks.

I just don't see how this post shines an ill light on Majid one bit.

Maybe, maybe not

The problem is there are people speaking as if Majid is guilty, when nothing has been proven.

I hate to stir the pot here, but I read a few of the posts (not the whole giant thread - so this may be redundant) and can't help but comment on one thing.

I realize a lot of people here know and like this guy. I don't. He may be a great guy, I have no idea. I didn't even read the article so I don't know of what he is accused. I do, however, know the feds. Federal prosecutors don't like to lose. Promotion is very political and losing looks bad. One loss can set back a career by years.

Therefore, federal officials do not file charges unless they are guaranteed a win. The federal court system has a 95% conviction rate. You read that right. If you get federal charges filed against you there is a 95% chance (NINETY FIVE PERCENT) you are going to be found guilty one way or another.

Again, I know NOTHING about this case in particular. I'm speaking in generalities here, but if a federal prosecutor has enough evidence to formally file charges against you.... you're screwed. This ain't the LMPD. These guys don't play. This person is in some serious trouble. If he is someone you know and care about then be prepared for the worst. Odds are WAY against him.

fed time is tough u have to serve 85% of jail time given and its done buy a point system , in majids case everytime he called and made a threat it adds a point on , a couple of death threats on a voicemail even with points taken off for no previous offenses could still be up to 12 to 36 months by federal sentencing guide lines , but he might get lucky and just get house arrest or a halfway house or even better beat the case witch i hope he does. but i will say fed cases are really hard to beat i went to court with a buddie who was facing federal charges cost him 15 grand just for the lawyer and about 2 grand in fines plus he got a year on house arrest and the only reason he did not go to prison was because he needed kidney transplant and the prison system would of had to pick up his med costs (and that was his first offense )
