It has happened a few times in the U.S., and the opinion piece in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association says putting children temporarily in foster care is in some cases more ethical than obesity surgery.
Please note the italics and bold print. I was only trying to make a point based on five major surgeries that I have had in the last twenty years. Two of which were "do overs" based on recalled external applicances placed in my body; one which was do to surgeon error. Currently I am still in physical therapy, six months after my last surgery.
My response was based on reaction to surgery rather than to the super obese child.
