I imagine something in the condition of the diner building changed those plans. I do know that once the building was not being used, an un-Godly smell began to eminate from it, I passed by there 3 days in a row and it was horrid.

You have to keep the layer of congealed grease warm or it goes rancid.

No, it isn't; not at all.

Having someone else's property declared historical certainly prevents them from doing what they want to with the property! So that takes the property owners' rights to do what they want to with the property.

So, I'm not missing the point. I just don't buy it is a sound argument.

To start with their certainly many more houses with the same architecture elsewhere in Louisville many of which are better examples of the period. The only reference anyone who ever made to the house was that it was the one next to Genny's Diner, not for any special reason to the house. Everyone in Louisville knew the diner, whether they liked it or not is a different matter but everyone knew where and what it was. Along your way of thinking why is everyone up in arms over the potential destruction of the Twig & Leaf? It's architecture is certainly nothing special either yet everyone wants it declared a historic landmark to keep it from being torn down!

Indeed the Twig and Leaf is a distinct style of architecture. It's caledl "mid-century Modern" and it's one of my favs.

Fixed that for you.
