I believe it was the beginning of the Reigler era. I'll check my clipping file to see if I can find the review.

The feud between between Pegasus and the brewery are public knowledge and could probably be found in a CJ database. If memory serves it had to do with the rest. withholding their (sub-let) rent payment to the brewery (leasee) because the brewery didn't open.

to add to a list that includes many restaurants I miss:

Angilo's - the original on 7th Street
Toad Stool Inn (the original) - have never had fried chicken like that anywhere
House of Chen
Bavarian Inn
The Monarch Room (the original in West Point)
Sandy's
Pasquales
Bernie's Backroom

I grew up in the Shively/PRP area - we ate at restaurants all over the county and So. Indiana (my dad was a BIG foodie!), but these were places near home.

Also, there was a great little italian restaurant directly across from St. Denis Church - I can't remember the name - anyone???

How could I forget Chen's. Where I first fell in love with asian cuisine. Mr Chen would come out and watch me eat as a small child. I miss that place so much.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

BWAHAHAHAAAA!!! That was one of the longest threads on the older version of this forum. Apparently the thread came up high on google searches for York Steakhouse, so for a while people from all over the country were stopping by to post on it.

Oh, lord, I do!

But I think I'm still the only one who can remember Highland Italian, in the place where Lentini's was yet to be.

There was a place near U of L that specialized in steak and biscuits. It was called Ireland's, I believe. I liked it, but I was a kid, so I can't vouch for its quality.

Also miss the previously mentioned Rubino's on Dutchman's and the old Rocky's.

The five places I miss so very much:

#1 - Garrett's - many fond memories, great friends, great food, etc...
#2 - Furlongs (original on Frankfort) - got engaged there, food and atmosphere were killer.
#3 - Zephyr Cove - they walked on the wild side in regards to entrees, was almost always packed.
#4 - Judge Roy Beans - a man's place, with great vino, and nice beefy steaks, etc...
#5 - Alameda - before it's time.

Ray Parella's, Kunz's The Dutchman on 4th St. and Hasenour's are all gone and where I took prom dates.

My parents used to eat in the Atrium at Hasenour's all the time.....I was too young to try it, but they raved about it.
